Nathan MacKinnon showed some ridiculous speed on his 49th, 50th and 51st goal of the 2023-24.

Can we take a moment on that 2nd goal to appreciate that no look pass Drouin lays right on Macks stick, in stride, as he's crossing laterally? Sick....

Came to the comments to say the same thing. Drouin and MacKinnon finding that magic again has been such a joy to watch this season.

I have to admit. When the Avs signed Drouin...I was not a fan. He has under achieved his entire professional career. I didn't think that he'd find chemistry with MacK again like he did 12 years ago. I was just dead wrong. Drouin has been....not only good, but borderline great. Is he MacK level? Of course not, but DAMN are they good together.That back pass was absolutely INSANELY good. No one does that! Not even Rants! Yeah, Mack did the end work, (and he was amazing) but it never happens without that pass from Drouin. My jaw dropped. Simply incredible.

I've watched quite a few interviews with Nikita Zadorov, both in English and in Russian, and in every one of them when asked who the best NHL player is right now his answer was "Nathan MacKinnon".

MVP! Kuch could never. Mack is scoring goals like this and people still trying to say that empty-net, powerplay and secondary assist merchant in Tampa is on his level lol

The flashiest Hatty I've ever seen.
@Chummy82 ай бұрын
This hat trick is a great example of how Mack gathers speed before he even touches the puck. So by the time he starts stick handling, he's already near top speed.

MacKinnon deserves the HART. He has more goals, practically even on points, better +/- by a huge mile over Kuch, more GWG, more ice-time, more EVEN strength goals and points, set the 2nd longest ever home point streak in NHL history, set the RECORD for being the only nhl player in history to have two 19+ game point streaks in the same season, has the most home points in NHL single season (80 something) has ever seen since Mario Lemieux had 100 something....Mack's been so close so many times and robbed of the HART, this is probably the chance for him to finally get one and he really deserves it.

Giving the MVP to kucherov because he would end with 2-3 more points than Mac would be an insult to such an electric player.
@canadian14452 ай бұрын
Not because he has 2-3 more points than Mac, because he has 50 MORE than the next best guy on his team! I absolutely love Mackinnon, but I think Kuch deserves it this year.

Argument can easily be made for any of the top 3. I’m very biased towards Mack but there’s no denying what he done this year. I know McD has some silly goals this year and some equal or better assists. But the way Nate played last night was really special. He brings his A game every night. Maybe A+. This game? S tier for sure. Find another player that has 3 highlight real goals in one damn game this year. Maybe Mathew’s has one but I doubt they’re break aways… he’s on another level. I’m sure most of the nhl is talking about him more than anyone else right now. Saying “wtf!?!?!, how do we stop this guy?” Just hope he doesn’t get taken out by a dirty play. I wanna see him shine for the next 5 years. Special being an Avs fan right now. Watched in the mid 90s. Then started again in 19’. Damn near perfect timing. Some silly hockey is being played for sure

@@canadian1445 MacKinnon has lost the Hart on both sides of this argument. In 2020 he was 43 points ahead of Cale Makar with 93 to his 50 but he lost it to Draisitl. In 2018 he lost to Taylor Hall who carried the Devils despite putting up more points than Hall. It'll be sad if he loses again in such a similar situation.
@canadian14452 ай бұрын
@@drewboatwright5356 Sure, but in 2020 he also had almost 20 points less than Drai...I would be happy if he won but I think Kuch is more deserving

Lol and you're wrong about that. You may want to watch McDavid play more. He has easily 2 gears more than MacKinnon. McDavid absolutely roasted MacKinnon head to head in the fastest skater, it wasn't even close

@@Nic_Garscum he did beat MacKinnon in a lap around the ice lol. That means very little in terms of game explosiveness. Both have that ability but to say two gears more is laughable when MacKinnon leads the league in 20mph+ speed bursts by a lot.

Best 3rd goal ever! This might be his best goal, or for sure top 3 for highlights. Just a bomb. Down the middle, crazy release damn close to the crease… and over the glove somehow. Wow. The way he played in this game? Maybe he breaks 2ppg next season. Or 4 if he plays this way every game haha. Sure, that won’t happen but if anyone could it’s him. Breaking 200pts in a season might be a thing of the past… or Nate finds a way to do this to every team.
