OMG the artist of Dredd was spot on "when Dredd was created he looked futuristic, today every cop looks like him" so damn true.

Overdesign usually kills characters iconoity for me, but Dredd's overly designed look... just works. Coming to it expecting something more grounded cyberpunk all the hyperbole in every aspect of Judge Dredd... it took some getting used to, but now I love it.

Great to see most of my favorite comic creators in a single feature, especially if it's about Dredd..Best comic character ever..Wagner and Ezquerra have created a titan of a character.I love their work on and off Dredd...Ezquerra's gritty ,consistently excellent work on other strips such as Third World War for Crisis and 2000ad's Strontium Dogs will always be firm favorites with me,how this man can create so much artwork is beyond me.He's like Stan Lee on Roids,His style grows on you until you become addicted. Also, besides his phenomenal creation and contribution to Dredd,John Wagner's work on The Button Man blew me away. That story was just about perfect in every sense. The sequels, although not quite as epic, were also excellent.Top drawer stuff. One thing I notice is that Mark Millar is very self depreciating,The Egyptian set Dredd tale was excellent, sure he had a different style of writing, and no, I didn't lke all of his material as much as Garth Ennis's take or John Wagner's ,but he was young and cutting his teeth in an arena with very talented and experienced writers.I don't rate him as the worst Dredd writer by a long chalk,I think he stood up well and added variety .I loved the 2000ad tale "Silo" by Mark Millar and Dave D'antquis for 2000ad,and what he did with the Avengers in The Ultimates for Marvel was simply amazing,I wasn't too hot on The Avengers until I read The first series by Millar..And that's before you look at Red Son by Millar, easily one of the best Superman takes,I've ever read.I don't really like the American version of Dredd,it just hasn't got the magic... I was disappointed with the first movie but saw the second as a vast improvement in terms of acting, but was maybe not ambitious enough in terms of setting (mostly Indoors)story, props, effects, choice of villians and cgi.too much slo mo too Just my opinion.Still a great flick.I enjoyed it,great casting and direction apart from aforementioned issues. I fully intend to collect every issue of The Mega Collection in the next 3 years even though I've read all the material up until now...Like I said Best Comic character of the lot. So a heartfelt thanks to the people who appear in this presentation and the ones who do not for contributing to providing me with hundreds upon hundreds of hours of enjoyment..

I began to read Judge Dredd when I was six to seven years old, (true). In Yugoslavia first episodes were published from 1983. in "Laser" comic book compilation magazine, (I was born in half of 1976), and even much of things confused me, I loved it :-), although I picked up a couple of nightmares that kept with me for few years.

That would be the "Sudija Dred" (literal translation) comics? My old man is from those parts and he used to buy me comics (he had very little knowledge and just purchased a bunch when he was on vacation every summer) in order to teach me the language. He was astute enough to understand I liked reading comics and would pick up words faster that way. Anyways from what I understand a lot of the satire and social commentary was lost in translation.

If your looking for the original 2000ad series, your gonna be pretty stumped as the series has been going on for a while and the first copies are very hard to get hold of. I would honestly recommend getting the IDW ones as they are more recent and are less expensive.

Hopefully a DREDD sequel gets confirmed and this time it does well at the B.O. as well and hope the new DREDD sequel comic sells on amazon too cuz that's the only online store that I can actually trust.

As an american reader of 2000ad I approached the IDW version with some trepidation. So far it's merely ok hopefully once it established itself it will actually be able to live up to the real Dredd. I can't say I'm a fan of having to "Americanize" everything especially something like Dredd which I personally didn't have a hard time getting into.

I don't know but I feel that Judge Dredd kinda provide deeper analysis on Fascism. Then again, a city full of bored and violent citizens who would Block War (inter-apartment war) against one another out of apartment nationalism. That's British Grimdark to you.

Been reading Dredd since issue 2 of 2000AD. I don't buy it or the Megazine any more because it gets puffed out with rubbish and really shit art that is very childish. I also hate the 'comedy' stories. I love Dredd for super hardcore stories with great writing and wit and amazing art. I'm not willing to pay for overpriced stuff that is very spotty with only the occasional payoff. I would also buy the Megazine if it was all stories about Dredds world rather than just random crap. Not only that,it's all going back to black and white.

Not gonna lie, the best artwork for me was Ron Smith's style in the 1980s and maybe one or two after that. The stylish look doesn't really suit Dredd.
