Today marks 40 years of Apple's Mac computers (short for Macintosh). So let's look at an OS feature comparison of the very first Mac OS (System Software 1) which shipped with the original Macintosh and the latest version, macOS 14 Sonoma! For consistency purposes, only built in apps are included!

As a Windows user, it's interesting seeing seeing this video, even if it's only comparing two versions of Mac. I've seen how Windows has evolved --- even XP, 7, 8.1 and 10 personally --- but have only seen a Mac screen around 10 hours of my life, combining all the photoshop lessons I had at school on the Mac computers that for some reason one certain class had? Was easy to use, but literally only had to use one program on it so that's a given. I'd love to experiment with different OS's more. It's way easier to explore different "homes" on phone, though.

In between System 9 and OS X, Mac OS was 110% rewritten from just NEXTStep, BSD, and UNIX. This happened because the Mac needed a more stable, standard system that was compatible with anything, and POSIX did just the job! (POSIX is the standard for designing operating systems that for whatever reason Windows does not follow at all.) Then, after two decades of Mac OS X, macOS 11 Big Sur came. Big Sur rewrote a lot of the OS too, adding SwiftUI and UIKit, changing how Aqua’s UI worked, adding tons of new frameworks, and moving more into the Swift programming language to optimize the hell out of macOS! Oh, and you know that frankenstein of OS X’s kernel? (BSD, NEXTStep, and UNIX?) Well, that was almost completely redone for the new ARM-powered Apple Silicon machines.

I feel like, I have tried this OS since 2015/2016. Although it was Mac computer at Apple Store Back then, because I already used to be with Windows, Mac seems a bit confusing until I understand it by myself 😅😂, after watching videos from Nobel here
