Macro Photography When Uninspired | Tutorial Tips and Settings

Thank you to all that watch and enjoy these videos! I love Macro Photography, mostly finding cute or interesting insects and discovering the hidden tiny that is all around us. I love to find bees, weevils, spiders etc, but there is this period of early spring where it seems every time I go out to shoot I am lucky if I can find 1 interesting insect to photography and I get bored. It turns out with some simple techniques, there is a lot more to find in the yard - in this video I will share some tips mainly aimed at beginners, or anyone feeling occasionally uninspired finding nothing interesting or new to photography.
Also in this video, I share some more tips on cheap but very effective macro flash and diffusion combinations, and give an update on my current favorite flash + bonus tips!

I agree with you that Single-shot macro can be more challenging than staking or bracketing. I still take four or five shots to get the result, saying that Staking or bracketing has its place with, shall we say, taking a picture of slim mould. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Thats a good idea actually, I probably should start leaving it in the mode to fire multiple shots and potentially walk away with the ability to stack more. I dont mind doing the stacking post processing - I will try your technique next time of keeping it firing off multi shots even if not intending to stack and see what happens! TY for the comment :)

Great tips! 👍 I always prefer my single shots over stacked. Just don't tell Instagram that. 😂 It never seems to get boring, looking at the small world most of us never give a second thought to.

Thanks! Not sure how I missed your comment until just now! I will say I recently got yet another diffuser (not in any videos yet) after watching your recent video and saw the softbox style you were using and now I am somewhat obsessed again with flash and stacking - the flash is so quick - like it does a whole 8 shot sequence it seems in well under a second - wild stuff!

Ive been leaning away from stacking/bracketing. It just burns me out in post process. Wish there was an delete last stack button when it gets messed up instead of deleting 15 to 30 images 1 by 1 lol

Have you been having much luck getting out and shooting? Here the weather has been so hit or miss when I have off, I have not been able to get out as much as I would like! The in camera stacking is fun when it works. BTW I did learn one cool thing recently in lightroom I should do a quick video on it soon - but you can autostack all pictures that are part of a bracket by using timing - makes it super easy to select a whole stack, send it to the stacking software, and also delete the whole stack easily in a few clicks!

@BMadPhoto I've had the same issue wirh work and rain non stop in the dc area. We get a reprieve for the next few days so I'll probably get out for some shots lol
