I really want to audition my seinor year (sophomore currently) do i have to do it through my guard instructor or my band director?

Nope! You can simply visit their website and register and audition. If you want to audition for your senior year I would strongly suggest auditioning now as a sophomore (for your junior year) as they are more likely to take someone who has auditioned twice over someone who only auditioned for their senior year.
