He called his album downtempo not because of the genre (that's another one) but because it's focused on a lower speed and louder basses, in practice it's just hard techno with some acid and rave touches.

But new artists are carrying the torch, it´s just called Techno nowadays. And the girls are taking over. Rebecca is the new Raidboss. Berghain and Revier Südost are still delivering as well.

When I get older and someone asks me the question, describe hardcore, techno and rave music. I wont even know where to start with my answer. Back in the 90s and it was easy to describe the difference but now, no way.
