I thoroughly enjoyed that. My mum and dad were at Seaford beach the day those scenes were filmed but they had no idea who the characters were as the Mad Max characters were unknown at the time. They had no idea this was going to be an iconic film the day they witnessed the scenes on the beach.

The Western suburbs of Melbourne is a great place to film a dystopian nightmare movie because it has all the characteristics naturally

MadMax is a movie that inspired me to overcome difficult times in my life; it helped me to become mentally strong and also taught me how to deal with extreme situations and be steadfast in one's encounter with such a time(the chaotic time which was visualized in the MadMax movies) like this. So yes....this movie certainly is and always will be in my list of top 20 Greatest movies which was ever made. Thanks for sharing this incredible moment because it really was an emotional ride which I really enjoyed throughout the entire video.👍

I remember seeing this on VHS at home when I was 16 back in 1982. I thought it was the best thing I'd ever seen. I still watch it now and it brings back feelings that I can't explain. Thanks for uploading this. (from North east England)

I remember working out west of Melbourne 10 years ago and a workmate and I would go on expeditions looking for Mad Max locations instead of working, the boss never found out. This video brings back memories of those times.

When Mad Max was released I was a young guy on the RAAF based at Point Cook, near Laverton. So obviously went to see the film at the drive in, and later went around to a lot of the places used in the film. This video brings back a lot of memories. Thank you for the effort of making it. In my opinion, Mad Max (1) is still the best Australian movie ever made.

In 2018 my girlfriend and I were in the Port of Melbourne waiting for the Spirit of Tasmania to start boarding, we had a few hours to kill so we wandered down the beach. Walked right by the Halls of Justice and didn't even know it. I told her this after watching this vid and now she wants to do a Mad Max locations roadtrip.

Little River was were the Little River Band derived the band name - evidently while on a road trip between gigs on the way to Geelong they went past the road sign in your video and the rest is history.

That was pretty interesting. You did a great job showing this. Mad Max is one of my all time favorite movies.

This shows how creative the camera angles are in the film. The scenes look much more romantic and desolate in the movie. Although it was obviously filmed toward the end of a dry summer. And still much older fashioned infrastructure was about. Top video!

Great video, of an incredible film. My Dad had the original Australian version on VHS around '83, I found it quite terrifying as a little kid. Me and my brother got cop outfits for our birthdays and wrote MFP all over them.

As a child growing up two things made me become a car lover and a car guy It was playing Need for Speed high stakes on my PS1 and watching Mad Max over and over again I even bought myself the Mad Max's toy display car as a man now which i payed $360 for it and this video makes me happy seeing where all the iconic shots were taken all those years ago.

Amazing work. I hope you can do one of these on the film The Matrix shot in Sydney. It's weird in Australia we seem not to understand what's important. I looked over the old Skippy Park in Sydney years ago when Home & Away shot there. Skippy Ranger HQ is a dedicated film set made for the most popular TV show made in Australia in the 1960's. Sadly today control of the area is out of the public's hands without detailing whats going on. It's unusual for a dedicated set from such a old show to be still standing and somehow this very important site is still under threat of being lost.

@phagl Productions Just so you know the scene where Max drops the Tyre off to be repaired near the Beach is actually the old Craigieburn Wreckers in Sydney Road/Hume Hwy Craigieburn and the Goose Introduction scene was filmed just up the road in Wallan as you mention. The scene where Beno lives that House is in Mount Ridley Road Craigieburn and is still there, Scenes from Phar Lap were also filmed there

How about the nightclub scene where Goose hooks up with that singer? That was shot in the "Love Machine" nightclub in South Yarra, my Dad was an owner at the time. Unfortunately he passed on production credits, which Miller offered on the film. That was a big mistake...

I live in Laverton, and i watched a lot of the filming, especially Cherry Lane where the car destroyed the caravan. we used cherry Lane as a drag strip. 1970- 85. 1 mile between the green paint lines, best memories !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I drive many of these roads every day and had no clue of their relevance to Mad Max. VERY COOL!

Really enjoyed this. I was 22 when Mad Max was filmed. I remember visiting Craigieburn Auto Wreckers around that time to pick up some parts for my HR and seeing the track that in the movie leads to a beach. The track actually just goes down to the back boundary fence of the wreckers. The old car that some guy was working under in the movie was also there when I went to wreckers.

Excellent video about one of my all-time favorite films, well done! :) A few fun facts, for those who don't know: -The blue Mazda Bongo van that gets smashed into by the cops chasing the Night Rider, belonged to director George Miller. He donated it to the film because the budget had almost run out. -The farmhouse (near where Jessie & Sprog are murdered by the Toecutter's gang) was located near Campbelltown, New South Wales, south-west of Sydney (totally understandable, Paul, that you didn't drive there from Melbourne - for those overseas or from other parts of Australia, that's about a 12-hour drive!) -The stuntman who comes off his bike on Kirk's Bridge later in the film & gets hit in the head by the front wheel of his own bike - amazingly, he walked away unharmed (!) -Most of the bikers in the Toecutter's gang were real bikers from local motorcycle clubs in the State of Victoria, such as the Barbarians, the Vigilantes, and the Victorian Four Owners Club. -The small budget of the original Mad Max film meant that only 80% of the scheduled car chase scenes were able to be shot.

That was cool showing the old locations from the movie. Mad Max is still a great movie ! Australia is an Awesome place. Thx again. 👍👍

I have only managed about 70% of the locations . I applaud your endeavour and have learnt new places. Fat Nancy’s diner I would have never found. I am now inspired to visit my unvisited locations. Wow An Awesome Job you did ! I've been a Mad Max fan Since 1985 -86 when I first saw it ! My dad drove 30 miles away(we lived on a rural greyhound farm) to rent the Road Warrior from a video store in a mall , as it happened he misplaced the tape and when we finally found it and went to return it we found that the video store had closed down!, so we were stuck with it I watched it and loved it and heard there was a previous movie called Mad Max and I wanted to see it< A year or 2 later we now had a local video rental store 6 miles away in the nearby town , one weekend a friend and I rented a copy of Mad Max and l was hooked since then ! It is great to finally see all the places that it was filmed some 40 years later not too much seems to have changed! Amazing work . From a Mad Max film fan from the US ......GREAT MATE!

I remember going to the Frankston drive in the Friday it was released, before the film got censored. Great Aussie move it was, then after the cuttings it was never the same. good coverage of the locations here.

So cool that some of the areas still look exactly the same...you know you are out in the country when nothing changes in 40 years.

Bloody awesome. I watched the film as a Melbourne teen and when I got my license in the mid 80's, my friends and I drove around to find a few of the more obvious locations. Never with your dedication though. Love it!! The end with you driving off as great. It is very hard to drive or ride safely after watching a Mad Max film... Funny that. Lucky for Max there were no speed cameras around after the apocalypse. Oh and the West Gate bridge was open in 1978, so open when the film was released, maybe not when filmed.

When I was Caravanning around Australia , I stopped in at Silverton outside of Broken Hill and visited the Mad Max 2 Museum and went to the Roads where they Filmed some parts of the Movie . Where Tanker Rolled and the Hill where they were watching the Refinery from. Loved it “😄👍

Good job mate. As a 13 year old growing up in Geelong (Corio) my mates and I heard they were shooting scenes for a movie on the road between Corio and Lara, along with a few dirt locations at the back of Corio. Once they were finished we used to ride our bicycles in search of where they shot. We found a few as the huge burnout and donut marks on the road were a dead giveaway 😉

Cherry lane use to be used for drag racing in the 70's every friday night...When cops came we switched to pipe road laverton north.
