Quality of the games aside, these were the days when a "generational leap" really meant something. The PS version seems to be built to show off the flashy 32 bit effects, none of which are possible on hardware only 8 years older (aside from trickery and hacks of course). Also, LOL at "FULLMETALFORTH" 🤣🤣
@EmiHnH24 күн бұрын
agreed buddy. I wonder what would the next actual noticeable leap be like

Genesis did a great job for being 1988 looks & plays smooth as butter. Gonna download this game for my SG MINI collection 😂

This moves ans plays very well on the Genesis. The music is also solid. They could have done more with paralax or effects for sure.
@FZuloagaАй бұрын
I dunno, a game like "Adventures of Batman & Robin" really pushes the Genesis to its limits and this game looks like "Eswat" or that kind of early games so I don't think it's fair.

You should see the homebrews being squeezed out onto collectors laps. But yeah. This is lazy, especially considering they are professional _and_ still in business maybe? Fill in Cafe not in business but the programmers put this port together from old scraps and called it a day.
@shadowopsairman1583Ай бұрын
Should have been On Saturn or at least 32X

This game is a homebrew port of the PC Engine CD version. Is not a early game, but its always fun see how some games working on different hardwares, no matter if some of those versions looks weaker than the other. PS Until today I was ignored the fact that a PSX port/remake existed

@@Crying_Onion No this game is an official port by the original developers, Fill in Cafe.

I bet people out their could make a mod of this game on the Genesis to look as good as the PS1 nowadays. Isn't there more cartridge space on Genesis nowadays ?

I'm glad that at least the Mega Drive version of Mad Stalker was finally released after all these years and not rotting in the unreleased games purgatory.
@IslandBoy-808Ай бұрын
I find it really weird to compare a 16 bit cartridge to a 32 bit CD-ROM and expect them to graphically identical. Even the audio will better on the CD-ROM.
@aryasmayodi8115Ай бұрын
16-BIT Vs 32-Bit Genesis is Amazing considering this is a 1988 console, while the PS1 is 1994

@JohnCharb87Ай бұрын
Quite impressed with the Sega Genesis version. The opening cutscene the people in the background have animated walk cycles. 1. The Genesis version plays quite responsive. Also no that much slowdown when a lot of enemies are on the screen. Plus I like the HUD design. 2. Level wise the PS1 version of Stage 2 looks really dull at the start. The background looks like it was painted on. At the Genesis version tried to make it interesting. 3. Also the Genesis boss fights seem more difficult especially Stage 2 and 3. They look relentless.
@dcboys4195Ай бұрын
The PS1 is far superior and awesome remake. The Genesis one is solid. Underwhelming in the color department, considering it was slated for a late 1994 release.
@afronautexplorer144Ай бұрын
PS1 is in a whole different league on comparison to its 16-bit rival. Still the Mega Drive looks and plays greats
@clawofthefallenАй бұрын
Agreed. The PS1 game is essentially a remake. The Genesis game was a decent, yet unreleased port. Two different creatures.
@hardkoregamer1981Ай бұрын
Alot of video game cartridges even back in the day had extra onboard chips that took the weight off the hardware itself so more performance could be leveraged from the hardware.
@kudratortikov1204Ай бұрын
PS 1 version looks better, but Genesis version is also worthy. We have to remember the gap between 2 consoles 6 years. Sega Genesis: 1988. PS one: 1994.
@giovannimarcelodasilva768Ай бұрын
A Versão do PSX ganha nesse comparativo. E os Robôs vermelhos que aparecem em diante aos 6:18 me lembram dos Tachikoma de Ghost in the Shell.
@clawofthefallenАй бұрын
@giovannimarcelodasilva768Ай бұрын

the original was released on Sharp X68000 1994, The PS1 is a remake from 1997. The Genesis version is a port of the X68000 in 1994, but it was unreleased until 2020.

) estao super refinados

It would have been better to compare the mega drive version to the x68000 and PC engine versions. The PS1 is not like a 32 bit remaster.

I feel like the Playstation version of Mad Stalker is a good example of "breaking" things in a remake: 1) The re-done graphics lack the atmosphere and thematic cohesion, especially when rendered in early 3D polygons. The new cutscene CG art for the PS1 version has an amateurish look and it makes every cutscene look worse than the original game's, which did everything in-engine. 2) The simple act of changing Hound Dog's projectile from a single bullet from a pistol to multiple rounds from a gatling gun fundamentally changes the game, as a weapon that was previously primarily a zoning tool used to help you close in on an opponent for melee combos can now be a spammed beam-like projectile with high chip damage, that dumbs down the 1p mode's difficulty dramatically. (And that is BEFORE all the super combo stuff which the game was not originally designed around to begin with.) 3) Why the heck isn't the PC-Engine version's story mode in this?

@@yoquese2.026 Ah, the FM Towns/Sharp X68000 game having dumbed down mechanics in a ill-thought remake that was bad enough that the dev ignored it when bringing out an aftermarket Megadrive version is TOTALLY about Sega, right? Yeah, didn't think so.

A versão PS1 obviamente é melhor, outra coisa. I prefer Genesis's scenarios art style, but the use of color wasn't great.

@PONTOCRITICOАй бұрын

Snes can't do those zoom in and zoom out effects....mode 7 does not allow this - so no. This would not be anything like a snes version Snes port would be the same as megasis/Genedrive with more slow down but more colours and a maybe a few mode 7 effects on menu screens etc, reverberation orchestra music, and cropped resolution.

PS1 version is definitely better because it’s more refined in terms of gameplay, not just prettier graphics. That being said, it’s missing the opening and the OST from the PC Engine version which has the edge over the PS1 imo. Same case with Tales of Phantasia on the PS1.
