I did this for 3 months my hair did not break off and it grew love this method

You can always tell a Pro....they don't even got time nor care to address ignorant comments. That's Meechie. Confident in her craft. Professional. I never got a clear understanding why this technique would be used. I do now.

5 years later and here I am about to do this because my hair is so soft it slips when I try braiding it myself. Thank you

Im a stylist since 1996 and just let sum people know my baby was born with very short hair, and the time she was almost i decided to take wat little hair she had and make lots of little ponytails. I needed to do this to cause the hair to grow now my daughter's hair is down her back. There is a way to use rubberbands without causing damage to the hair. That is wat we learned in school during our training!!!

This method isn't a whole lot different from a braided sew in... Hell a braided sew in can take out hair as well.. Especially if the braiding is too tight. And obviously something is working because in the beginning and end of this meechie stated this is the clients second installment. Good job meechie...mothers did this for years to kids hair with no issues.

I happen to like this method. I've seen girls wanting to get a sew in and from the hair being so short or damaged from chemicals, braiding hair doesn't always work. Y'all so worried about breaking of the hair but a braided foundation has ripped plenty of ppl hair out. Meechie clearly states dont do the rubber bands too tight to prevent breakage. Hello!!! what y'all not understanding??? As of hair growth any installation can grow your hair. It's all about how u maintain YOUR hair underneath is what ppl fail to realize. Just because it's a sew in doesn't mean neglect your real hair.

I love this method, it has helped me so much. I'm not a braider at all and this has helped me with my quick weaves and allowed me to install my own sewin's. Thank you so much for sharing this it has helped me expand my skills and do everything I have ever wanted to do with my weave but couldn't because I couldn't braid.

you know it is two different kinds of rubber bands I believe she's using the ones that won't break your hair off I can't remember what they are made of but she is definitely not using the regular ones this lady is a professional she knows wtf she is doing

everyone is saying rubber bands are damaging but my hair grew with them. plus i think it just depends on whos doing it bc sew ins,braids,and relaxers can be damagung

Tried this last night!!! I absolutely cannot braid and this gave me the ability to do my own sew-in. It took me a while, but I was able to do it with no problem. Saved about $100!

I'm so glad I saw this. I've been wearing toppers for 25 years. My hair is very thin on top and I can't cornrow so I glue. Tired of that method for sure! This gives me another way to install and probably waaayyyy cheaper than buying the human toppers. Thank you for posting this! I appreciate seeing all these great techniques!! Kudos to all!!!

Her hair doesn't look damaged it looks like it's growing out and she hasn't had it trimmed. I had my hair done like this (just the top) It came out beautiful it was like getting a regular sew in.. No break off nothing... You did a great job Meechie...!

Not a bad method at all! If you haven't tried it then you shouldn't speak! I have a head full of hair and prefer this method over braids! It is a little time consuming but the take down is so much quicker than traditional braid patterns, just depend on your hair and how good your stylist is! I've gotten more damage with braids then with the rubber bands

I've heard of this method before, I am a stylist who specializes in natural hair and I must say that yes a stylist must know what they're doing when doing this style because there's triple traction it can go very wrong if installed too tightly. Meechie knows what she's doing, this is not a style for the unlicensed to try. Essential oils prevent breakage, as long as the hair is moist and oiled before, during and after install and one doesn't keep doing this method back to back to back her hair will be fine. She can also lift up her tracks and oil her scalp. Rubberbands only break hair when the hair is too dry and or bands are too tight.

Lmao, some of these folks and they comments are "just entertainment for n*****!" Oh the ignorance of some of these comments. ANYTHING you do to your hair will stress your hair: relaxers, ponytails, sew-ins, quick weaves, adding in braiding hair, braiding your own hair, gel, mousse, combing too much or not combing at all, pressing combs, texturizers, etc. Calm the hell down. 1st of all: IT'S HAIR, IT GROWS BACK. 2nd of all: If you listen to what she said "DO NOT PULL THE RUBBERBANDS TOO TIGHT" there won't be anymore breakage than with anything else you do to your hair. When our kids were little we put the same little black rubberbands, knockers, hairbows, barrettes, clips, etc. in our kid's hair and I'm pretty confident not everyone's children are walking around bald from it. Let's apply the smallest amount of common sense before writing mean comments and attacking people. I can sew the HELL outta some hair, but due to injurying my thumb in a fight YEARS ago, braiding is one of the most painful things for me to do. A technique like this (DONE IT CORRECTLY) would save me time and reduce the pain in my hands. Thank you MadAboutMeechie for sharing. PS I know some bad ass stylists that can't braid worth a shit, but can bang the shit out of some hair, IJS. #WhyYouMad

Its great that she is innovative and has come up with a solution for people who want to do their own sew-ins but cant cornrow, but I personally would use it, simply because of the breakage that could occur. Sew-ins are protective styles so I wouldn't want that many rubber bands causing tension on my hair, especially my relaxed hair. I don't think the rubber bands are the main issue of breakage, I think its how the person takes them out. They may try to cut or rip them out, which would be devastating. It also seems like it will come loose quickly and/or the rubber bands that is holding the foundation could pop! Great job tho. The final result was pretty :)

This is one of the most natural techniques out there it has been around for a while. I use it for my clients that don't want their hair braided down or when I have a client that has a photo shoot and there is not alot of time to braid the hair.Method was created by Leslie Leland back in 2009 or 2010 owner of Hair Ex studios . You rocked this look Meechie but then you always do .Love it

I'VE HAD THIS TECHNIQUE DONE A FEW YEARS AGO. AND I MUST SAY THAT HAD TO BE THE WORST WEAVING TECHNIQUE OTHER THAN BONDING GLUE. FIRST OF ALL I GOT IT DONE HERE AND CHARLOTTE, NC AND I'M NOT GOING TO NAME THE STYLIST, BUT THERE IS A LAWSUIT PENDING. SHE DID MY HAIR LIKE THIS, AND THE RUBBERBANDS CREATED SORES ON MY SCALP. ALSO, WHEN YOU WASH YOUR HAIR, YOU CANNOT THOROUGHLY GET UNDERNEATH THOSE SMALL RUBBER BANDS, THEREFORE WHEN YOU DO WASH THE HAIR, THERE IS A LOT OF DIRT AND LINT BUILD-UP. WHEN I TOOK THE WEAVE DOWN, WHERE THE RUBBERBANDS WERE PLACED, THERE WAS MAD AMOUNT OF DIRT AND LINT ON THE PIECE THAT WAS RUBBERBAND UP. THEREFORE WHEN COMBING OUT THE HAIR, THERE WAS HAIR LOSS. THROUGH EXPERIENCE, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TECHNIQUE TO ANYBODY.. MAJORITY OF MY HAIR FELL OUT BECAUSE OF THIS. I'M JUST GETTING MY HAIR TO GROW BACK IN SPOTS, THANKS TO HAIR INFINITY. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS TECHNIQUE.

I used to do mine like that back in high school in the late 90's but I connected mine with the thread not rubber bands since they're very damaging on the hair. I wrapped the thread around in the small sections then connected them the same way. The thread was way easier to get out and caused no damage at all.

While this IS a very creative way to n***a rig a sew in with short hair, AND shows how much of an innovative thinker Meechie is, her hair was long enough to add some braiding hair and make a true foundation.

If your hair is too short to braid, don't get a sew-in. If you can't braid; don't do sew-ins. I understand that stylists have to be crafty when a client comes in with no hair and wants a sew-in and a good stylist would suggest alternatives and worn a client of future breakage. But at the end of they day, it's up to the client and if a stylist refuses, they will just find someone else who will.

I used this technique in high school years ago when crochet braids first became popular. I never thought to try it for sew ins! Thanks for sharing.

My hair was short like that and I had got a sew in . Add braiding hair , take hair vitamin.. And if you're a non braider meaning your ass can't braid then you don't need to be playing in people's heads and their money ✌🏼️

great way to do a sewin on short hair... I did this method about two weeks ago without seeing your video and it came out great, I also use rubber bands on my six year old since she's been two years old and her hair is down to her waist now... you Rock!!!!

Can you go swimming with this weave? And after swimming can you do professional wrestling where you pull your opponent up by the hair. Will the weave still stay in place
