Happy New Year! Thank you for your videos. I found this one particularly interesting to watch, seeing the streets as you walk. It says a lot for Madagascar that you are planning a return trip. I'm hoping you have more footage from this particularly cool trip to upload :)

1) How many times do you have to pay the "gift" / "tip" at the airport? 2) What is the sufficient "gift" amount per person? 3) Is it just for arrivals or do they do that for departures too? 4) Do they ask for it for domestic flights too? 5) Is it better to take check in or hand luggage to avoid theft? Google Maps reviews of the airports are full of reports of this.

Its not very organized at the airport arrival. Sometimes a customs officer may ask you for a "pourboire" which means tip. I gave $5 cause that's what I had in my pocket. Try to avoid check in luggage if possible. Getting off the plane and not having to wait at the luggage carousel is great. Travel with average looking luggage not expensive luggage. If you arrive in Tana the money exchange at airport is a rip off. Try to go to the money exchange across the street if you arrive during daytime. People asking for tips at airports are random, happened only once to me in several trips.

Nice video! i am planning to go on December. In Madagascar how is the internet connection? Can you buy a local SIM card to have mobile data?

The internet was not so great in many places. Ok for doing emails but not much else. It can depend on the hotel, for example the Palm Hotel in Tana had super fast internet, just up the road the Sole Hotel had weak internet except in the rooftop restaurant.

So if i understand correctly you dont need to have the visa before leaving canada you just buy it at the airport?

Yes correct, everything done at the airport.
