Honestly , after seeing how Bob Marley : One love grossed $81 million at box office with production budget of $70 million , it will break even within next 2 or 3 weeks , it’s also worth noting that Migration surpassed the box office of Wish
@motherplayer
@motherplayer 5 ай бұрын
Ouch. Even stands to make more because it was budgeted economically. Even I'm beginning to feel bad at just how Wish has really floundered as a whole in it's box office. Still, box office doesn't determine one's interest, so maybe it'll get some decent reception when it's on Plus, but I still find that doubtful.
@Antonio_Ortiz

I'm equally mind-blown at both the budget for One Love and it's box office success, but I guess good timing and Bob Marley's cross-generational appeal was the winning formula.

I know Rom-Coms haven't been popular in Hollywood for a while, but I think that ignores all the success Rom-Coms have elsewhere. They are all smaller budgets but Netflix, Amazon, and Network television has had a lot of success on these romances (some are true Rom-Coms others are more comedic/light hearted romances). I think Hollywood is missing out ignoring a pretty big market of people who want feel good light hearted romances

Caught Madam Web, I was expecting it to be a bigger train wreck. I was wondering if it might have hit a 'so bad it's good' territory. then that could have helped it. My only real complaints were some clunky dialogue, and some bad line delivery in the beginning, that was about it. At least I got some mental oatmeal the day before with 'The Taste of Things'. I can see why France submitted it over 'anatomy of a Fall'. I think they wanted to revel more in a glorious past than live in the present at the moment. Also caught the 40th Anniv Lynch Dune screening. I can see some flaws (also some compositing shots did not age well), but there is still a lot I liked about that film. It even drew a decent sized crowd.

I wish Dan would do a breakdown of Kleks Academy's run. Its 2.3m tickets sold is 6.1% of the population of Poland, which would be equivalent to 20.2m US watchers, which at a ticket price of $10 would give it a box-office "value" of 202m so far - that was 2 weeks ago, and it's still showing regularly.

And The Monk and the Gun, a Bhutanese drama/comedy about Bhutan's transformation from monarchy to democracy, which I thought was lovely, but good luck finding it. Caught 'the Monk and the Gun'. We had it for just a week. The film was quite enjoyable, but when I looked up some of the info on the situation... They left some stuff out. Bhutan has a sizeable Nepali population in the south that was facing cultural erasure, and it led to protests from that population in the 80's. From what I read these protests and even riots set the wheels in motion towards democratic reforms. However, from the perspective of the town that served as the setting, the film made sense for them. Though I noticed that was never brought up by the government election workers.

I'm having a really hard time finding any positivity about Madame Web, so I'll do my part: I see the issues, but I still enjoyed the movie a lot. From a technical standpoint, it's a huge mess. But as far as something that entertained and intrigued me, I unironically had a great time. Not in a "laugh at how bad this is" kind of way. Genuine enjoyment. My main issues were the pacing was a bit slow, the outfitted spider women stuff was only for like a minute, and the ending... the ending is something I would say I truly did think was awful. It was just so awkward and forced, almost like a parody of X-Men? As far as pacing, I think if the movie attempted to frame itself in a way where we would see modern-day stuff and the 2003 stuff throughout, switching back and forth, that could lend more entertainment opportunities like action scenes to the proceedings, or at the very least some good variety. I think that could have tightened up the pacing a lot. But despite these issues, I really liked the movie and didn't feel like my time was wasted at all. I am looking forward to it releasing digitally soon. So if you are one of the 3 other people that actually enjoyed Madame Web, you are not alone. You are seen. It's just insane how hard it is to find any positivity surrounding it.

The Chosen's continuous competency in theaters is interesting. I've seen a few episodes, but would think most people would just watch at home. It's streamable on multiple free platforms and while one of the more engaging works of evangelical Christian media, doesn't "need" a big screen presentation to be enjoyable.

If Madame web somehow makes 200 million dollar , Sony will take it as a win and will eventually make some profit out of it

I can guarantee you that it’s not making it to $200 million.

Wonder how long SPUMM will persist, depending on how kraven does (I predict not great)

I’m just gonna say it cause I consider this channel the best critique channel on youtube period…Way to many mint mobile ads. Understand including it & that’s fine but too much makes the channel seem cheaper imo

It’s one ad that usually runs on two shows per week, with a segment that I work hard to give added value to what I do. That’s about standard with other sponsors. I don’t have a million subs and I don’t get 500K views per video. I have to do what I can to be able to make this a career.

That low voice Dan is sporting sounds like an elegy for the film business. He sounds depressed.
