Made in Africa: Ethiopian weaver modernises ancient craft

Күн бұрынHand-weaving in Ethiopia dates back centuries, and the craft is passed down through the generations. The woven cloth is used to make traditional clothing. But as Ethiopia modernises, younger generations are choosing not to pursue this trade. Ermias Tilahun (Er-mee-us Tila-hoon) is a traditional weaver who is trying to keep this ancient craft alive. The techniques he uses have not changed, but his designs experiment with colour, material, and pattern. Let’s take a look.

In West Africa,Guinea-Bissau we make like this "Pano de pente" originated from my ethnic group of Pepel Only this is a old tradition in Ghana by Ashanti ethnic group called "Kente" and it is for the importants peoples like Kings and Queen Africa is very rich

Yes. The speed of technology is unbeatable, but the love for originality is eternal, the future will still need this and even if it fades out, at some point, there will be a sharp upturn insha Allah. Good job sabah and cbtn africa

It won't die. Like a horse, even if we use cars today, there are rich people who still love horse riding. It became a niche product. Now the problem is how an artisan can beat other artisans to become the only 1 percent that survived and hold the last niche market for rich people.
