We spotted the Vyper Chair at the SEMA show a couple of years ago, and we finally got on in the shop. This could be the last shop stool we ever buy. Well, until we have to buy more for others. This thing is built like a tank and it's built right here in the USA. We opted for the Elevated Height version of the Steel Max. You can also get an aluminum version and a standard height version. The cushion has a 3/4" plywood base with high density 3" foam. All the parts are CNC cut and powder coated to the color of your choice.

I saw these many months ago and while I was intrigued, I balked at the price. My wife decided to sneak one in as a Christmas present this year. This is hands-down the most solidly built, rugged chair/stool that I've ever seen. And comfortable too! If you're on the fence because of the price, I say go for it. You'll never have to buy another one.

Best chair on the market for any garage or shop. Also looks a ton better if you build it correctly and have the braces facing the correct way.

I am 95% ready to order one. Still kicking around color and lift options. Looks to me they thought of everything as they were designing this chair. USA made means something. I still have SnapOn wenches I purchased 44 years ago. My pocket knives are $300-$400 easy if you want a good one. This chair is a deal if you look at the big picture. This is just my opinion.

I bought a Vyper chair a few months back. They were having a $50 off sale. Next day after my purchase the sale dropped to $100 pisst me off. The chair showed up weeks later. To be truthful once I got it I was very Impressed with the quality. You do get what you pay for. This is a one and done for life shop seat. It is the Snap-On/Mac/Matco of seats. Not for Everyone's budget and for the cash I understand how some feel but I think many complaining about the price probably blow money in other places and won't get the same return on investment.

Nice, but YIKES! It sounded like I broke my jaw when it hit the floor... Being a welder, you gave me a few things to consider when I get around to fabricating my own, like the hub design... Probably go with a wider width on the casters for potential cracks in concrete, or asphalt.

you were right, my jaw did drop when you said $600 but.....you get what you pay for in this case...once you buy it and see how it works, you won't care that it cost that much especially when it is still around in 10 yrs and still looking good....i wonder if they have it with a tray in the bottom to hold tools and parts

People who complain about the cost don’t realize a good office chair costs between $600 to $1000 , just as you can buy a cheap office chair for $100. If you’re going to sit in a chair that’s for your occupation, you’ll rue the day when you choose the lesser quality, and your back will thank you for the extra dollars spent.

OK, at 10:00, why are the support arcs being placed in the wrong orientation? The pictures clearly show them concave curve out, creating a scalloped effect. And it is obvious why this is needed when the wrongly completed assembly is shown a couple of minutes later. That ring of sharp-edged metal below the stainless steel foot rest ring makes my ankles hurt just looking at it... Just looked at the comments, Shop Tool Reviews says that they fit either way (true) so we opted to orient them the 'wrong' way. And just why on earth would you do that? Is there some advantage? Because it sure looks like there is a strong disadvantage.

If they get these down to $300 with the quick height adjustment and tool tray, they'll have my business. I love high quality stuff, but I can't think of a single time where I had to pay 10x the price to get high quality. As someone with a detailing business on the side, here are examples where I went with the highest quality over "good enough", and the cost increase that was associated with each: Dual Action Polisher - $465 Rupes vs $170 alternative (2.7x) Pressure Washer - $1,100 Kranzle vs $250 alternative (4.4x) Pressure Washer Hose Reel - $280 Cox vs $80 alternative (3.5x) Paint Thickness Gauge - $695 Defelsko vs $190 alternative (3.7x) Impact Wrench - $370 Milwaukee vs $190 alternative (1.9x) Scissor Lift - $9,900 Nussbaum vs $5,800 alternative (1.7x) Air Compressor - $440 California Air Tools vs $150 alternative (2.9x) and then there's... Rolling Stool - $605 Vyper Robust Steel w/ quick height adjustment & tool tray vs $60 alternative (10x) The $60 alternative is the Craftsman Work Seat. I agree that the Harbor Freight stool in this video is complete junk, but the Craftsman has a stable, square base and very thick padding that gets the job done. I'd be more than happy to upgrade someday though

I don't think the comment around 20 minute is fair. Will you guys compare $50 shirt with $600 shirt? I will never expect $50 shirt will use the same quality fabric, the same fit, the same level skilled seamstress etc etc. as $600 shirt. It only make sense if you compare $600 shirt with the shirt around that range, say $500.

I really can’t respect a company that removes or blocks comments or posts of people who aren’t praising their product and are sharing their own personal experiences with said product. Think it’s only fair that everyone is able to share knowledge even if it negatively affect sales.

I'll admit it's a nice shop stool but I just can't justify the $600 price tag for a shop stool. I would rather have one of those chairs that gamers use at least that chair has more support in the butt, back and even arm rest. Come think of some even have cup holders and speakers.

So how about those "expensive industrial casters" @23:30 that are supposedly so much better that what you could buy at Harbor Fright? Well, it took about 5 minutes to look up "SCC" casters and find that these are assembled and sold by Service Caster Company (SCC). The photo of their light-industrial 4 inch swivel caster with 1/2 inch hole matches these casters exactly. And the cost of these premium casters? Would you believe $11.68 ea in black urethane (SCC-BH20S414-PPUB-BLK)? Oh, but these have RED polyurethane, so what about that? Yeah, colors (red, blue, grey, and even purple) are the same $11.68. And that's per each. So imagine the discount you would receive if you bought hundreds or thousands at a time. So not exactly casters that alone would cost you $100 or more, as Shop Tool Reviews would have us believe. Oh and how about Made in USA? Well not exactly. The casters are assembled in USA from "global" sourced components. Does all this really matter? Well, it kind of does when you consider how hard Shop Tool Reviews worked to justify the premium price for the "all made in the USA" premium product. I guess it comes down to the old adage, Caveat emptor.
