Fall is a great time to grab a deal on mowers! We take a look at our new John Deere Z930M and walk through the buying decisions when looking at the Z900 series from John Deere.
John Deere is worse the DEWALT when it comes to the number of items that are close to the same but named slightly different. Looking at the Z900 ZTrak series, you have the E vs M vs R series in most models. The model that is right for you will depend on the environment you will be cutting in and the equipment you want to come on the machine in standard form.
Since we are in Michigan and do not have large hills, we opted for an M series over the R series as the cross ported transmissions did nothing for us and it was not worth the price tag associates with the upgrade.
We also opted for the carbureted Kawasaki over the EFI Kohler for our beliefs that the Kawasaki is more reliable. We have a 2014 Z30M EFI in the family that has some fuel to air ratio issues on some start-ups. Our dealer also agreed that the Kawasaki was seen less in service than the EFI Kohler.
Our John Deere Z930M also had the M.O.D. or Mulch On Demand deck that allows us to go from normal side-discharge to mulching with a pull of the lever. This is great for our use, but might not be great for everyone.
You will want to look at our suspension seat! While it is costly, it is worth every penny as you enjoy the ride!
Let us know what you think of the John Deere Z900 Series Zero Turns.
