This is funny. Love your bus and video. About 3 months ago I was splitting lanes on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles going North bound when I ran across a Black Skooklie bus with some stuff on the back about going across America and Something About Harley's. I remember thinking that Black is a terrible color for Los Angeles because of the heat, and how I've always wanted to have a converted school bus to travel and live in. Any ways I was pleasantly surprised when you actually moved over to let me ride though. I gave you a courtesy wave but I was actually waving to you and the fact you were in a school bus. Now three months later I run across you and your bus on You Tube.

That is funny about the paint and now seeing them, that is always how it goes, you don't see one anywhere then bam. I travel the country drag racing, I street race, no prep, and grudge and I am building a new schoolie to pull my enclosed race car trailer. It is cheaper, lots of room, and safer than a camper. I do custom frame off automotive restoration customization and I was gonna paint, but my buddy paints houses and we took grey tractor paint and put a lot of extra hard hardener in it and it's like a enamel with the integrative clear, nice wet look for what it is ($350) whole bus. I went with the Aims Power MPPT 60 amp controller with Aims 4000 watt pure sin wave inverter, and Aims LCD Inverter remote charger, generator, shore power, and doing 2-100 gal water tanks due to people like you saying at least more better. I have a toilet hooked to black tank so need the more water. I will say you have been a big inspiration to me and I wanna start next yr with my channel and Facebook page doing videos of the in's and outs of the true street and track racing and what happens behind it all and repairs and im gonna do videos of everyday life of me riding the Asheville, NC Appalachian/Smokey Mountains I live in . I want it to be the life of me Jason. Sorry so long! Thank you for the inspiration!

Schoolie is wonderful! Great job in transforming the school bust! The front side mirrors that were taken out was made to watch out for children around the lower front end of the bus extending outward, radius. None needed to drive the bus. Thnx for sharing! 'keep-On-A-Rocking-N-A-Rolling!' :)

So cool. Love the gritty, flat black look. I'm a girl of the 50's and always loved the guys with the primered trucks. So many things to love about this bus that it's hard to know where to start. Lots of underseat storage and sleeping space is at the top of the list. Love the wooden shade valance. If the shades don't work. Have someone make slide across single panel curtains out of unbleached muslin. I've made them many times and they go with any decor. They would suit the simple industrial look great. I'm so impressed that you didn't over design the bus and kept all (most) of the windows etc. I love it. Love the bathroom. Seems easy to put a potty in there. I've never seen that layout. I was real close to buying a short bus...chickened out. Might still do it, eventually.

Love the flat black paint job! Thanks for the power/speed improvement tips. Not so concerned with speeding, as I'm sure you aren't with the bus, but lowering rpm. The big singles replacing the dual rear tires has got to be the most outstanding, effective, and simplest way to reduce rpms! Thanks for sharing. Awesome video. I have watched dozens of these, and I got more information from yours than several of the others put together. Thank you. Darryl

Extremely, extremely cool skoolie. I LOVE it. The flat black paint must mean the rig gets pretty darn hot inside no? But it looks brilliant. The interior is clean and functional and bright looking. Great work and I am so impressed you did it on the road -- I am on the road while rehabing a vintage motorhome and I know how much work it is.

Nice lookin' rig! Good job. Building one myself for ATV's...a couple of things. Super singles look bad ass, a tubbed skoolie. I was talked out of the super singles on the rear 'cause they're a thousand dollar bill on the side of the road up here in the great white north. Dual rears gives you two spares, you could rob one from the rear to use on the front in an emergency or remove the flat one on the rear and still get closer to point B. The other thing is I've painted with flat paint and the best it looks is right after you paint it, very hard to keep clean. So I decided to paint with a matte drab military green and matte black. Got the 5.9 cummins in mine as well with a 5 speed... in a dog nose Freightliner/Thomas, no heat on the feet...8.3 would have been nice.

Plastidip (comes in spray cans or u can buy it by the gallon to put in a sprayer) or u can do a plastic wrap. I saw a guy had his truck done in a flat gray. He said it had been 3 years and was holding up perfect. Just some alternatives to the flat black spray can with constant updates. 😄

Hey guys thanks for all the videos please keep em coming you can buy some cheap 1/4 - 1/2 thick insulation at a hardware store like home depot that has a sticky side it's for like garage doors anyways you can use that all over your fire wall and the pullout inside to kill off allot of the engine heat and if you need to cut pieces to size before sticking just use some cardboard box pieces cut to size for templates hope this helps, laters

Loooove it! As far as noise is concerned ,I'm wondering if maybe you put a wood ceiling up and covered up maybe just a few of the windows? The only thing is with the wood it would weigh down the bus more. It would probably cut down the noise and it would be really beautiful as well.. Gosh I just realized that this is 3 years old ..I don't even know if you're going to get this message, lol

Really liked your video. Of all the skoolie conversion vids, I was surprised to discover sofar yours is the only one I've viewed that demonstrated how you increased the mph. I have a '93 Thomas S 3700 series (with Navstar 3.7L diesel engine). And the speed on it I think maybe goes 50+ down hill. I floor it and it is passed by traffic like it's setting still. The previous owners had the rear gear ratio changed, but the speed change from maybe 15 mph to 50 ( he claims it can go 60 ) So my question to you is can any old bus be changed to go faster like u did on your skoolie?
