My favorite Bias tape maker is the 1" maker by Clover (which ends up making 1/2" double-fold bias tape). Here are some links:
1" Bias Tape Maker (25mm): www.amazon.com...
1/2" Bias Tape Maker (12mm): www.amazon.com...
Bias tape is my all-time favorite sewing item. I use it for so many projects! And though you can buy it at the store, it's super easy to make your own, with any fabric you like. So pull up a chair and learn more! I'll walk you thru all the steps for understanding bias tape and how to make your own, in any size or fold.

LOVE your tutes, Dana! I check back here to rewatch every time I need to make some tape, just to refresh on the instructions. For new watchers, if you have the same set of tape makers and want to know how wide to cut the strips: #6 takes 1/2" strips, but makes tapes so small and fiddly I'm not sure what they'd be good for yet. #12 takes 1" strips and makes 1/2" single fold, 1/4" double fold. They seem a good size for small seam finishing inside a garment, or delicate necklines and armholes. #18 takes 1.5" strips and makes 3/4" single fold, 3/8" double fold. I like this size for necklines and armholes. #25 takes 2" strips and makes 1" single fold, 1/2" double fold. That size would be good on hems, decorations and crafty things, they're a little too big for necklines and armholes for my taste. Have fun!

Great video, thanks!! One a personal note, you’re not only very lovely, but in that loosely fitted dress, you look beautiful!! Very rarely do women realize how beautiful they are when they wear modest loose dresses and isn’t this what we want as women, to be beautiful! Modesty Becomes beautiful when humility is centered in the heart!

Thank you for the clear explanation on where the 14" mark is, on the sewing machine. My sewing machine is very basic, and when I asked a store representative at a local fabric store, where the 1/4" mark was, she talked to me like I was not the "sharpest crayon", so without a seam guide, I was left guessing. Your explanation of the 1/4" seam being just to the right of the presser foot, was incredibly helpful.

I'm here because I want to teach myself to sew when I can save enough to get a machine. On meager widow's pay, that'll be awhile so have lots of time to watch videos. (subscribed) My mother was a great seamstress that I could have learned a lot from but had zero interest in it. The most involved I got in her sewing is standing there (bored stiff) while she pinned material on me to make me an outfit. Here I am 50 years later, wishing she was still here and I had the foresight enough to learn from her many talents.

This was an awesome video. I'm making pillowcase dresses and this has been a lifesaver. I have the deluxe bias tape maker and that is making double the fun. I've made fat quarters from the left -over fabric to create the strips. I'm still trying to get the hang of sewing the strips correctly. Also, the last piece you cut off makes for nice triangle scraps to use for a quilt project.

Well to correct myself I got another piece of fabric out that was light on one side and darker on the other and it worked out a lot better. The first fabric I was using was white with little teeny tiny flowers on it and you couldn’t hardly tell with the right side of the wrong side was and I think that was what was frustrating me more was I couldn’t tell which room was writing which was wrong so with the new fabric I think I write it myself it worked out fine I pinned a whole string together before I saw them I actually haven’t seen them yet but I will and I think that made it a lot easier than trying to do piece by piece. Thank you so much Dana for all your wisdom and your wonderful tutorials I’ve learned a lot from you and I will continue watching you to see what you come up with next take care and thanks again.

I've seen a few videos on how to make bias tape. Your video makes it seem much more simple than the other videos. I can't wait to make my own bias tape. Thank you for the video. I like that you make the instructions seem easy to do. The other videos made it sound so complicated to make bias tape.

+Jill Wilson You can print off bias tape makers and just cut along a few lines to run the fabric through. Google "Printable Bias Tape Maker" for the print. It's free! I wish I knew that before spending $13 on 3 sizes . . .
