Join us for the second part of our huge Madeira food tour. We're travelling around the island eating wood fired steak skewers, BBQ chicken skewers, whole lemony grilled sea bream, and a real local delicacy - GARLICKY LIMPETS!! I'd never eaten limpets before - they're amazing!

Awesome! Madeira was one of my top trips when I lived overseas. Had the limpets and garlic at the top of the teleferico in Funchal half a dozen times in 2 weeks. Yummy! Did not like the pastries though. Too sweet. Gorgeous island - hiking along the lava canals inland in the dense mist was amazing.

Stayed in Jardim do Mar in September. We fell in love with the place. Limpets are a gastropode in the snail family. The consistency of escargot

Fish like dourada or roubalo are much easier to eat if you ask the restaurant to cook them "opened". BTW, sorry to disappoint you but Madeira has a large number of major fish farms off the South-East coast...you can spot them sometimes just before landing. There are also trout farms inland.

I believe the skewered food served vertically (espedatas) which is now served all over Portugal, originated in Brazil.

We still have family in Madeira at the moment, and they're enjoying the sunshine, however it's cooler and a bit more rain than in November. I hope you have a great trip! Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed :)
