My mother was a university student with only little money back in the fifties. She liked to make her own dresses. Once she won a present basket full of delicious goods. She was called to the presenter of this little tombula... she wore one of her nicely cut dresses. She heard someone in the background saying... that is not fair, look at this wealthy woman getting the price!😅 kleider machen Leute (dresses make people) Very skillful dress making! Chapeau.😊

I love your fashion sense and that you’re looking to possible post more ranges of content. I hope you’d consider speaking about basic and staple pieces to own in order to make more versatile looks, as well as tips for what items not to buy because they won’t be very usable. I’m trying to learn much more so I can simplify my closet while still being able to create different looks

maybe for the cups, you could've turned them inside out and put them facing down in between the lining fabric and your fancy fabric with the right sides facing each other, so if you turned it all inside out there wasn't a seam? I haven't constructed a dress myself but I think that might work?

Turned out great! I wonder if using interfacing would of helped with the structure of the top pieces?
@corysmeland320 Жыл бұрын
Some boning would def help keep that stiff and sharp. The only interfacing you could use for that would be horsehair I think.

thank you for this! a few questions - was there any stretch in the lining and crepe fabric you used? what were the measurements of the tulle you used (width and length)? and what was the length of the zipper you attached?
@madeleine_white2 жыл бұрын
No stretch, I bought 2 yards of tulle but only ended up using one, I always buy 22 inch zipper and trim it, always better to have extra than not long enough!

@madeleine_white little helpful tip my mom told me. When gathering material with the thread from the machine, do two rows so that if one by chance breaks, you do not have to start over. ❤
@StormSongs710 ай бұрын
I’ve been sewing since I was 12…that’s a lot of years. Anyway, I’ve always done anywhere between 2 and 5 rows of 6pi depending on the fabric. Materials were much less expensive back in the 60’s. These days, $12.00 a yd for 100% cotton is crazy…🤦🏼♀️
@BereniceAllanPoe8 ай бұрын
@@StormSongs7natural fabrics are for rich people now, us 99% can dress in plastics in we want to be dressed at all 😒 the general quality of clothes has gone down the drain, so that major fashion houses can sell their "ready to wear" at an artificial "low" price in comparison to their collections and still have a gain of like 900% on the costs. The rest of the clothing industry adjusted and now we literally dress in cheap plastic bags with armholes
