In 1979, days after my 16th birthday, I found myself in Paris for an outdoor concert event. By local estimates there were close to 2 million people there.The stage was in Place de la Concorde facing west overlooking les Champs all the way to Arc de Triomphe. There was a laser light show that extended all the way down the boulevard and illuminated the Arc in Blue , White and Red. In Concorde all the buildings were the palette board for an incredible cinematographic display. Everywhere was people extending into the forest right to the Seine. It was JMJ playing to an effusive and sophisticated audience. The event alone blew my mind but the music was a thunderbolt of inspiration. The night was perfect, cloudless and electric. All down the Champs there were smoke machines and individual displays. There were barges on the Seine releasing fireworks in time with the music. This event was awesome to say the least. There is some crude video on youtube of this show. For me it was one of those life changing moments. When I hear this now and every time I do, it reaches the depths of inspiration and awe.

@Carlos Saraiva we can not compare two icons , they go in different directions . Vangelis inspired by expressional and motivational way followed by themes of movies he was in charge . Jarre wrote musical pieces expressing his passion in genre he followed , he does pathfinder in this field ( electronics music) and gives inspiration for later followers . I like listening Vangelis' music in one mood and doing Jarre' in another mood . Different genres .

In the middle of this messed up world we are live in, this music takes us to a better place. Thanks to all Mathematicians, Scientists, Engineers, Sound designers, Producers and of course Musicians who developed and created Synthesizers and made Electronic music possible. Yeah thats where my mindset is also. Humans are amazing. We created the world in all our brilliance, all we have to do now is to 'unmess' it up (i.e clean up). Implement cleaning technologies to get the excess CO2 out of the air, and that will create a new industry and more jobs. If we all created the world with our brilliance, then all of us we can re-create it. We're that good.

My sentiments exactly..I've grown up with this music from 1977 too( aged 13) to now aged 59 this track moves me tremendously in a good way :) And the way is builds up and then fades one by one instrumentally sends shivers :)

Tatiana, we are joined by music but separated by war. The cover picture of the original oxygen album was made as a comment on the damage that humans does to the planet (source wikipedia). To fix the damage humans need to cooperate. We have a choice if we want to focus on destruction or preservation and creation. Future or no future.

Many of us who grew up during the cold war have been raised to feel that wars are just a waste. We've been told about the horrors of world war 2 and were taught not to repeat them. Of course not everyone thinks that way. There are "Nazis" or what you prefer to call them in every country. The solution is not to listen to the "Nazis". I see in your profile videos of animals, nature and friends. According to what I believe of climate change and human pollution, nature is at risk. What do you value in life? Fresh air, clean water (do you know there are microplastics in fresh water all over the world)? How do you preserve what's good? For example, Look at Hamas and Israel. Both sides let the "Nazis" decide. The result was quite predictable. Who ever wins that fight will be hated by others for centuries. With such hatred no one will be saving the nature and the other things we love. We need to choose differently. How to start solving the problem? Start thinking, start talking to others. Don't listen to "Nazis".

I had this LP when it came out in '76 (I was 16)... He was and is one of my favorites along with Kraftwerk (1975). I grew up listening to electronic music of all sorts from creative and imaginative musicians. The best humanity has to offer. Today there are still musicians out there breaking barriers and releasing new sounds and melodies. But Jean-Michel will always be one of the founding leaders of all electronic music.

I've been a fan & a follower of JMJ since 1977, he is the Pioneer of electronic music period, no one could have started their career in the early 70s like this great genius did, he set the standard & the path for other up & coming electronic musicians to follow, But JMJ will always be the greatest! fantastic. You've really emphasized the most atmospheric parts of this composition and minimised the parts where it was more predictable, by bringing background arpeggios to the front.. Really great job.

I can still remember exactly my first encounter of JMJ 's hit..the Last Rhumba!!!then equinoxe I was on my 6th grade that time.. my early 80's..and im on piano lessons those years.So Amazing!!! Followed by Equinox ,Oxygen series...all inputs did moulded me beyond time .
