I saw this video and realized I still had dishes to do, so I made it a goal to finish my dishes before your podcast. AND I DID!! I am dealing with colon cancer. Sometimes I wake up in the night and can't sleep. So, I find one of these videos, listen to your calming voice, and I'm able to go back to sleep. You and your guests give me lots of advice, so maybe that's why I can stop worrying and get to sleep. Keep it up.

We've traveled the colon cancer journey. I can't tell you what my husband (the patient) was feeling because he didn't say that much. But, unless he was hospitalized, he never missed a day of work or church. We just kept putting one foot in front of the other. I hope you have a support system of family and/or friends. If you will allow me; I would love to pray for you.

@karenrich9092, please remember God has promised to heal ALL our diseases, if we will trust Him. Find that promise in Psalm 103:3. That's such a beautiful conditional promise! We just need to trust God's promise. I have seen firsthand that God keeps His word. My friend, Kennetha, has received her healing of metastatic breast cancer as well. Karen, you can trust God to heal you. I will believe with you, in Jesus' Name, for complete victory in this area. God bless you, BIG TIME!

I lived in NYC for a few years after my marriage to my Canadian husband. He started chatting with the mail carrier one day and her jaw literally dropped. She was humming the rest of the block 😂😂😂 when we visit his family and the light turns green, everyone quietly waits for the first car to remember to start driving. It's berserk to us new Yorkers

Cas I'm so happy you introduced me to Madisun's channel today, I originally found you by watching Dawn's channel (Minimal mum), now through you I have just followed Madisun 😍 I'm still at the beginning of my organizing and decluttering path, I follow you from the UK, but being originally from Sardinia, where my parents still live, I absolutely loved this video especially, I miss my childhood slow life, I was so lucky I grew up there and so happy other people around the world are talking about it. Thank you both for inspiring me to try to get back to my roots in a way, with your podcast, and thank you for talking about my home island. I absolutely loved it ❤

Loved this! Madisun Gray was my Peter Walsh. She is so inspiring & I hang on her KZfaq videos coming out. Slow living & minimalism are the antithesis of the life I was living. But I am a homeschool mom & really related to her values & weariness of consumer culture. So I let her inspiration guide me toward a more minimal home & lifestyle, & it continues to be a magical process. I am very grateful. Thank you for hosting this interview. Love & respect you both so much! 🙏

Their heritage plays a big role. My husband visited while in the service and sent up to Canada to train with the Canadians. The locals invited them for a bar-b-que. He said what nice people and enjoyed his visit immensely.

It’s so cute hearing you girls. I’m older and lived the simple life. I miss many aspects of that life, the slow pace and family being all nearby. But it was from a child’s perspective. My Mother and Father and Grandparents and all adults worked hard with little luxuries, like cars and air conditioning and no dryers or dishwashers. I remember when the first automatic washers came out, before that it was ringer washers. I would love that families would be reunited and the pace slowed but for the rest, not a chance. It’s funny Madison doesn’t realize that Canada is the same as us. I mean we are neighbors and so is the rest of the world. It’s not a true American culture, it’s a Hollywood culture that even we grew up aspiring to along with the rest of the world.

Great interview. I see comments that say to KZfaqrs, “I’m so inspired to work harder. You get so much done in a day. I’m on the grind. Your worth ethic is amazing.” etc. Just own less and enjoy LIFE more. The materialism over everything is a bit much. Don’t get me wrong, we have 3 kids who are very involved in sports with full time working parents, but we prioritize owning less and being more minimal with other aspects of our life to accommodate a slower and simpler life. Less clothes, toys, screen time and stuff frees up so much time and energy.

I’m moving into slow simplified life via decluttering and it most definetly opens up space time to process past and present emotions. It’s the main value of this process for me. The emotional processing can be extremely challenging. I’m doing it slowly but surely with lots of ups downs.

As an ADHDer, I'm starting to get into the slow simple living lifestyle, and it's so ADHD friendly. I got rid of lots of clothes that I didn't wear (impulsive shopping) and now it makes it so easy to get ready in the morning, that the morning overwhelm is gone. I want to keep decluttering and setting up other areas in my house in order to make it more ADHD friendly. Cooking is another thing I have trouble with, but I still wanna try it, so searching quick healthy meals to cook at home might be the best approach. The more we can make easy the everyday stuff, the better for our brains.

You're both speaking about the issues I've dealt with my whole life - I'm 70 and retired. But it was a long haul getting here. My Mom worked but she didn't have to and she stopped by the time she was 50. Dad was totally willing and able to support the whole family. However she worked to help us 4 kids go to college. My parents didn't pay for college, they paid for our room and board. (College wasn't the expense it is today) I went to 1 year of college. After the first year I lived with my 'boyfriend' and started working to support myself. We were married young, had 2 children and divorced in less than 4 years. Then I HAD to go back to work with 2 babies. He was gone, child support wasn't being enforced, there was no fairy godmother. That's when I realized the value of what it takes a human being (usually a woman) to take care of a home, kids and family. Lifestyles today - where everyone is encouraged to do everything - we forget to include we need time to take care of home and family. Because of the way women 'think' (which is very different than the way men 'think') we carry the burden of 'getting it all done'. We also carry the stress load of HAVING to get it all done. We need to make time for simple living, down time, puttering, one on one time with kids and spouse and self care. Seldom do we structure our day with that in mind. We spend money on stuff or fast food and convenience. Then all of a sudden we have stuff we don't need. Or maybe we're unhealthy or overweight, because there's no time to plan food or life. I think that's what slow and simple living is all about. Now that I'm retired, I FINALLY get to have slow and simple living.

Love your Podcast so much!! I truly appreciate all you bring to the conversation!! Regarding Slow Food, we have "Slow Food First Coast" in Northern Florida geared towards local farm to table through restaurants and other organic businesses. The program sponsors a "Tour de Farm" which is a dedicated day when farms open up to locals to come see where and how food is grown. Can be the farm of grass feed cows, or the adorable goats or an awesome herb farm full of herbs and flowers. There's local vendors selling there fresh made goods and activites for kids. It's educational, and supports local businesses and sustainability. Pretty awesome day! Thanks again Cas for introducing us to new people and new ideas! Keep being AWESOME!!

Stuff accumulates so fast too. It had to be a conscious daily effort for at least five minutes to keep it moving out of the house if it isn't being used. Also, don't buy stuff you don't really need. It is just more to manage. Learn this before leaving your parents home.

I love Costco, but I don't buy anything processed, ready-made meals, etc. (Mostly, I still buy cereal for the kids.) But I get the packaged chicken, because it freezes well, and the coffee is cheaper there, etc. I do the best I can to buy ingredients, not ready-made/frozen/just-heat-it-up "food". I cook dinner as much as I can, instead of heating it up. It is much less expensive, in the long run, and not too difficult. Anyone can learn to look up a recipe and follow it (or tweak it to your liking).

I too go to Costco and I do not buy any processed or ready to eat food…(well maybe their black bean burgers)…but many things are less expensive there . The important thing is to know how to manage the inventory.

I was so excited to check out Madisun's content after listening to this, but I was put off by her immediate deletion of my well-meaning comment about this tip on her website: "Nurture your faith by attending a local Bible-based church." < : - ( I believe when we're privileged to belong to the dominant religion in our area (e.g. Christianity in the U.S.), it's especially important as a person of faith to use language and actions that are welcoming to all. Things that feel good or neutral when we're in the majority can be like a stop sign reading "Your kind not wanted here" to people who've experienced exclusion or even violence for the religion they happen to have been born into. And given the horrific amount of suffering caused by religious discrimination currently and throughout the millennia, I believe no truly thoughtful life of faith can ignore the vital role of acceptance and inclusion. Ironically, showing vs. telling those Christian values is often the best way to get Jesus' teachings across, and the same is true for most religions.❤

Acceptance and inclusion are values I strive for, but sometimes my most cherished beliefs require me to 'say no' or refuse and even exclude. Not all in life mushed together represents peace, love etc. Sometimes it means my potatoes or apples will all rot, if I am inclusive. I'm 67 and enjoying a slow life with ample meaning. I try to protect a margin or buffer in my lifestyle, living at 80%, so that when I am needed by someone I can truly be there. If I'm not constantly going 100% then exhausted then I can sprint (or burst) to 120% for a time. And what is the 120% situation? Maybe the 3am call from one in crisis. Or help giving shelter to a stranger. I do have weeds in my yard. Sheep like dandelions.
