I wanted to let you know there was something wrong with the bridge setup and once it was repaired everything worked great and I can tune and do my own setup now. And I LOVE my guitar! I play the hell out of it. Thanks so much for taking the time with me back then. It is an amazing feeling to play lead for hours and still be in perfect tune when you are done.

Great video! I plan on buying an ESP LTD Viper 1000 Evertune soon and just had a couple of questions. I'm actually planning on using standard tuning with 9-42 strings and want it to be setup for bends all the time. Is there anything I need to know or any advice on this setup? I also was curious if the Evertune will stay perfectly in tune while setup for bends, or if there could be slight string slippage. I really don't have any need to use the Zone 2 where it doesn't bend at all. Thanks for any help you can give and I am going to subscribe!
@MadManMusic
@MadManMusic 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott! Awesome! Glad you’re deciding to join the EverTune Fam! Its a great system! 9-46 might be a bit light but “should” work fine. You may want to check the Evertune website and check out their tension calculator. That will tell you if you need low tension saddles for those particular string gauges. But as I said you should be fine at standard tuning. And as for staying in tune while set up for bends, yes! It will because it will still be set up in Zone 2. You will basically tune the tuning machine up until you have obviously moved into Zone 3, then you de-tune it back down into Zone 2 as soon as the Tuning stops changing in pitch. That will insure that you can bend by applying a little pressure by bending but when you’re not bending you’re in the Zone that does not change in pitch. I hope that helps!! Enjoy the new Axe! 🤘🏼😜

In your opinion what order should I do the setup: checking if I’m in zone 2 ,fine tuning it,checking action,checking intonation and then move to checking the truss rod(I’ve messed with it so it does not seem to be as playable as it came from the factory) or I’m wrong about the order I do things here?Thanx!

Hey Dude, are you changing the string gauge with this string change? Or just a fresh set? How are the other settings? Action? Is your truss rod set correctly and is the action reasonably set? How flat is it?? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get a clear idea. A higher string gauge might be necessary but it sort of shouldn’t be.. there should be enough room to make adjustments.. NEW AXE DAY!! Awesome! You shouldnt have too much trouble tuning down the extra half step. Just set all the string to Zone 2 by Detuning the actual tuning machines until the string dont bend anymore. Then use your Allan Key that came with your guitar to de tune the string using the screws inside if each of the Saddles on the Bridge. It make take a handful of turns but you should get there. Be mindful that there should be minimal resistance. It should not be hard to turn those screws in the bridge. If its is, STOP. Your string tension may be too high or low. But as I mentioned, a half step shouldnt be a problem. Give it a try. Take it slow. Try to really understand the physical mechanics of the system. Once you have that down you’ll never look back at a standard bridge again! Let me know how it works out! 🤘🏼😜

Hey Mad Man....I think you covered this already but im just making sure, If your guitar is already in the 2/3 bend stop position (allowing your strings to bend) before you intonate it, do you need to bring the strings back down to Zone 2 before you intonate them, or can you leave them at the 2/3 bend stop position?
@MadManMusic

Thats a great question! You should lower the tension into Zone 2 about 1/4-1/2 turn or so, Check the intonation, Adjust, RESET The Tension to the Same place and Check again, make the next adjustment, and so on. You don't want the tension to be set too Deep into Zone 2 because the Saddle will not be in the correct playing position. Hope that helps! If you have more questions, Let me know! 🤘🏼😜

Also, as I change the intonation, the open string changes too. I have tried in different spots of zone 2 for the all of it, no dice. Evertune has tried to help me a few times, but nothing is working. I am convinced diesel fucked up on this install.
@MadManMusic
@MadManMusic 6 ай бұрын
Hey! Sorry you’re having trouble.. When adjusting the intonation you “must” be in the playing position at the threshold of the Bend-Stop otherwise the saddle is not in the correct position. Each time you make an adjustment you have to make sure you compensate for the change in tension by adjusting the tuning machine at the head stock. Your action may also be too high or you are using thick gauge string. There are a few factors that could cause this, not only with ET guitars but in general. Remember to be in the playing “bend stop” position and see that your action is about 1-1.25mm at the 12th fret. Lemme know how it goes. 🤘🏼😜

I can tune and intonate the E, A, and D strings, but the thin G, B, and E will open tune but are not able to adjust to intonation. I can open-tune the G, B, and E strings; the 12th fret is always flat. Turning the adjustment screw on the back of the EverTune bridge moves the saddle forward (toward the neck, which is turning the screw counterclockwise) to raise the pitch. But the saddle moves to its forward stop position and can move no further. These three strings remain flat at the 12th fret. I return the strings to proper open tune in the 2nd position as I go along so these strings are in proper pitch, but the 12th fret remains flat for each of these three strings. No issues with the first three strings; they tune and intonate fine. Any ideas?
@MadManMusic
@MadManMusic 11 ай бұрын
Intonation advice is always tricky when you can't physically touch the guitar. How low is your Action on these three strings? Raising it might add a bit more "Travel" to the string forcing it Sharp. String Gauge could be playing a part too. What size are you using? Also me sure to make sure your Truss Rod is properly set with just a slight bit of relief. Just in case. Hopefully We'll sort this out! 🤘🏼😜

@@MadManMusic The action is low but not low enough for string buzz. I use the D'Addario XL regular light gauge (10, 13, 17, 26, 36, 46). The G string tunes open and at the 12th harmonic. But when fretted on the 12th, it is flat. The B string tunes open but is flat at the 12th harmonic and flat when fretted on the 12th. Hi, I plan to buy a new guitar and so is stumbled over Everyone as well ;-D First of all I find your content fresh, good explained and in a nice mood. So sad you dent have more subscribers, I think you deserve more! So the evertune might be a good invest if you buy a new guitar anyway. And all of the advantages might be worth the money. But I am only using one guitar in my practice routine. Usually i am working through a practice routine, where it goes from standard E to droped D to D tuning. So if I have to go tune out of zone3 before I can tune in another tuning and then have to set it back to the bend stop, it is way more effort like with a normal bridge? So when I think this through it might be a way to tune it on D, and then tune every higher tuning "against" the bend stop? Or ist there a "to much" ? I would appreciate if you can answer this. Thank you Christian

Hey dude, thanks for the compliment! In this case I would tune the whole guitar down a whole step to D and then you would tune up into Zone 3 to have the E tuning and the Drop D tuning. But keep in mind when you’re in Zone 3 the string are susceptible to Tuning Slippage. It will be as though there is No EverTune... so keep that in mind. Standard D would be the only tuning the System would actually be working in. Hope that helps! 🤘🏼😜

@MadManMusic
@MadManMusic 7 ай бұрын
Great Question, No it does not. You still need to stretch the strings. Check out some of EverTune Tutorials where I explain the process. If you don’t stretch the string well, as you bend the strings will go “flat” but on an EverTune that means the tension will slip more and more into “Zone 2” resulting in the ability to Bend Notes being reduced or impossible. But you will remain in tune. Just no bending. 🤘🏼😜

@@MadManMusic and yes I’m rolling from zone 2 into zone 3 just a little bit then backing off into zone two. I’m getting a little bit of bend play but not enough for my liking. As I’m in zone 2 from there. The note stays sharp. Even if I try to intonate after. If this all makes sense

Intonation should be checked in a playing position.

Thats true, but only when you’re playing a guitar without an EverTune. When you’re guitar with an ET is set in Zone 2 on this bridge system, which is where you’ll do all of your tuning and intonation, things like gravity cant pull your strings out of tune. Truthfully not even the weight of the guitar sitting on a neck rest will have much if any impact because the threshold of Zone 2 is so wide. But yes, when you’re adjusting the intonation on a guitar with a regular bridge, the playing position is preferable. 🤘🏼😜

Good video but this technology is not for everybody...before any of you spend a high dollar for a guitar equipped with this, make sure you read the testimonials about the complications involved. The need for string tension calculators and steps required to fix the many issues spells high cost to get your guitar working. Go to Solar FAQs about people not being able to tune their guitar...the response is a flow chart of if this goes wrong do this...and so on...to make this technology worth the purchase a Evertune tech should come with the purchase...I strongly warn that you look past these cheerful videos that support the intent of this technology...I dropped 1300 for a guitar that has this and now I'm stuck with a guitar that requires videos, literature and help lines to simply tune up and jam...

True, the EverTune isn’t for everyone.. and I mention that often throughout my video regarding it. It works best for Professionals, Touring and Recording Musicians. However, I’m literally explaining the simplest way to make this system without any issues. Simply follow my instructions and you’ll be fine. And if you need more help, feel free to ask questions or read the comments on any of these videos! I’ve helped the hundreds of people already from my tiny little KZfaq channel! 🤘🏼😜

@@MadManMusic I just did my first setup and it wasn't that bad. like anything it takes practice. I had to adjust the module a couple time and push it back in, but it all turned out fine. I did find that intonating to more work then expected, but once I found the right balance it went by ok. I changed out the default (9-46) to (10-52) and went to D standard. Almost all the strings tuned them selves but they were all flat on the fretted 12th intonation. I will say once it's locked in to place and in zone 2 it's amazing how "in tune" it is. An evertune bridge could make a piece of driftwood sound great. The only think that sucks when you are on zone 2, is u lose a lot of feel... if u know what i mean. Like quick pinch harmonic with vibrato isn't there anymore. But playing chords has never sounded better. I will have to play around with setting the guitar in zone 2 but close to zone 3 to get the best of both worlds of bending.

@@MadManMusic I found my modules fall in and don’t sit very high in the bridge. Or flat. I can tell they are in zone 2. They just look sunken in. Not sure if that makes sense. How do u reset the modules? Do u have a video on that?
