The Who's That Girl Tour was so huge they HAD to play stadiums otherwise she'll be playing consecutive sell out shows at, for instance, Madison Square Garden for five nights. The same thing happened with the Virgin Tour. It started with 2,000-3,000 seat theaters, but later in the tour they had to move to larger 15,000+ seat arenas.

I've always thought that the combination of Madonna with Nicki Harris and Donna DeLory was the best in terms of both increasing the depth and sweetness of her voice when performing live. The fact that they kept it together for 3 subsequent tours shows that clearly Madonna thought so too.

...well for me as a sound guy its obvious that here she made use of a playback of her singing; very likely recorded at one of the rehearsals days before the concert. She was always a Pro and reaching for perfection; singing + dancing in the live concert situation was not possible both as good, especially not over a time of 60 or 90 minutes with performing x tracks

Yeah, she really is clear in her words/lyrics of her music/hits, thats y many young girls in earlier yrs memorize easily those hits.

I remember her saying she took singing lessons when it looked like her career was going in that direction, cuz she really wanted to be professional dancer..

Madonna does not have a great voice like Withney Houston or Celine Dion but she is a show woman. Certainly she sang and danced live the whole concert. In the 70's,80's and 90's you really needed to prove you sang . Madonna did it, i agree Madonna is the one, who opened the borders in the pop music for all of them, we know Cher was before Madonna. But Madonna went above and beyond, she. Today we have Britney Spears Christina Aguilera, Gaga, Jlo, Arianna Grande, Miley Cyrus. I can say that the only ones , who sing live Christina Aguilera and Gaga. The rest playback . Christina Aguilera was blessed with an amazing voice. But no one of them have been able to overcome Madonna. Madonna is still the Queen : )
