Love the video reaction and spot on analysis. This track was off of her Bedtime Stories album that was released after Erotica. On Erotica Madonna dealt with a lot of social taboos from S&M to giving the LGBTQI community more visibility in her work. It was about a woman taking ownership of her sexual fantasies and she got a ton of hate for it especially when she released her SEX book. Human Nature was a no regrets fuck off to her critics. Madonna is embarking on her 12th Tour starting July 2023 & I'm lucky enough to have gotten tickets & This will be my 11th Madonna Tour. The ONLY tour I didn't see was her 1st Tour "The Virgin Tour 1985" other than that I saw her Who's That Girl Tour 1987 (This was her 1st world Tour), Blonde Ambition Tour 1990, The Girlie Show Tour 1993, Drowned World Tour 2001, Re-Invention Tour 2004, Confessions Tour 2006, Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008, The MDNA Tour 2012, Rebel Heart Tour 2015, Madame X Tour 2019 & now her Confessions Tour Also dubbed as her Greatest Hits Tour 2023. Out of all 11 of these Tours I got to see her perform "Human Nature" 3 times. She Performed it on her Drowned World Tour 2001 & Her Sticky & Sweet Tour 2008 & on her The MDNA Tour 2012 & Her performances of "Human Nature" on all 3 Tour was epic. On her DWT 2001 she did the original version & on the S&S Tour she did a rock version of it & she rocked it out playing a guitar & she had the screens behind her with Britney Spears on it & on 1 stop Britney actually came out & performed it with her & on her MDNA Tour she performed The Original version. If you guys haven't seen any of her performances on these 3 tours you absolutely should. Also I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you 2 do a reaction Video to these 3 performances. I really loved watching you 2 react to it.

All the comments below have touched on the song's message, but I thought it important to note that she (well, Dave Hall) samples Main Source's 'What You Need' for this track. That song is bomb and came out maybe only a year or two before Bedtime Stories. Madonna was already legendary at this point, but being the chameleon that she is, Stories was her foray into/and embrace of black sounds, particularly Rap and R&B. Babyface produced on this album and even sings backing vocals. Dallas Austin also produces. The song 'I'd Rather Be Your Lover' was supposed to feature 2Pac (whom she was dating at the time), his verse is even on the internet somewhere, but they went with Meshell Ndegeocello-who killed it. Madonna is major and so is this album! A strong, self-assured woman who always said no to the bullshit. Her output deserves all the analysis and praise! Peace. (:

I agree with your statements, only thing is that male performers like prince, david bowie, elton john, dennis rodman, there were embraced by society and the entertainment world because they were men. So they were not attacked like Madonna was in the 80s and 90s and still to today due to her age, the fact that she was a woman who defied what society wanted to her to made her a target. You should check out her iconic speech at the Billboard woman of the year award show, she truly showed her vulnerable side and discussed what is was like as a daring woman in the music business. It was very much an eye opener.

I feel like we did more with the knowledge we had then, than what we do in present day, which makes present day feel more repressive and way less progressive than the 90's (a time which I was part of, and I have always been pro empowerment and try to keep up with current events) ever did. in a way we are circling back to where we left off in the 90s in the 20's (hopefully). but the 10s were a mess.

I'm new to your channel and I already do like the way you both analyze and talk about music videos like Madonna's ones. You both fully got the meaning of this song and video, but let me suggest you to watch the Erotica video which was previously released ('92). It'll be clearer the reason why of this song and, mainly, why Madonna has been so deeply meaningful and impactful at that time and over the years. It's not only about sex, it's about human nature itself, including its contradictions and paradox.

This was like if Cardi made a reaction song to all the backlash she got from WAP. Literally. Except not only did she get criticized for being overly sexual, this was ab the time the ageism started bc she was in 30’s and everyone thought she was too old and her career should be over.

I love this video and song so much. It was a big F you to the backlash she got from the Erotica album and Sex book. Madonna has never been outspoken, she has endured so much hate throughout her entire career by expressing her opinions and bringing to light issues and taboos of all kinds and paving the way for others to follow. She is so brave. She turns negativity into art. That is such a rare gift. A lot of the freedoms artists have today are because of artists like Madonna opening our minds. The biggest fight she has fought over the past 20 years is ageism and it’s getting worse. Watch this space, no one will bat an eye lid in 10 years time when an artist in their 60s shows some skin and makes music and videos better than artists in their 20s
