Ah yes, early Madonna was extremely vibrant in her voice and dress. A fashion trendsetter, jaw dropping lyrics, and constantly evolving her sound and look. Like Prince, with every album she reinvented herself, constantly pushing the envelope. Her performance of Like a Virgin from the Blonde Ambition tour was insanely provocative, even for 1990s standards. Check out that live clip if you get a chance. It's in her movie, Truth Or Dare! After I saw that movie I gained huge respect and lifelong props for her as a performer and entertainer.

The legendary Nile Rodgers produced this album. One of the most influential music producers of all time. Madonna wanted him for this album because he had done such great work with David Bowie and others. Another song he produced that you reacted to recently was “I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross. His fingerprints are all over some of the best modern music! He was a huge influence on Duran Duran, too, and produced some of their best work.

This album was produced by Nile Rogers. This is early Madonna from her 2nd album making pure POP music. Her more serious stuff isn’t introduced until maybe her 3rd album and onward. Drummer was Tony Thompson from Chic and the Producer was Nile Rodgers to this day is a Mega Producer and was a founder of Chic a huge disco group. Thompson also play on David Bowie's Let's Dance. They used to do gigs in the late 60's and early 70's with my brother who is one of the best lead guitarist in the world's his name is Eddie Martinez. My brother went into the rock field and was lead guitarist for Robert Palmer on Addicted to love and Simply irresistible. My brother Eddie was also the guitarist with Run DMC and did King Of Rock and Rock Box. Unfortunately Thompson passed away a few years back and Bernard Edwards also from chic passed sway. Chic was propably the most successful disco group of all time. Some people may Say the Bee Gees were bigger and they overall were but believe it or Not the Bee Gees weren't actually a Disco group They just adjusted to the trend when they were called on to do Saturday Night Fever. Sorry Jayvee for being so wordy. By the way Tony Thompson was an absolute Angel of a person. Madonna's " Vogue" will impress you. Take Care And Stay Safe And Free.

She was heavily influenced by the great David Bowie (my personal musical idol) when she said seeing his concert as a teen changed her life. FUN FACT: Rolling Stone ranks "Like A Virgin" #4 on the 100 Greatest Pop Songs of All Time list, and Billboard lists the song #95 on their Top 100 Greatest Songs of All Time. Madonna performed "Like A Virgin" at the first MTV Awards in 1984. Appearing on top of a wedding cake, wearing a wedding dress, a "BOY TOY" buckle and veil, Madonna sings the song humping and rolling across the floor. MTV considers it the most important and unforgettable award show performances of all time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lists "Like A Virgin" as one of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll.

When she performed this live on the MTV Video Awards dressed in a wedding dress and rolling around on stage people LOST their minds! Crazy For You and Live To Tell are some of my favorites!

Nice reaction Jayvee! This was the song that became a world smash hit for her and made her a global pop superstar. She influenced a lot of the fashion during the 80's and her popularity was sky high. Man, this brings back so many memories!

80s Madonna is my guilty pleasure. I'm 35 and mainly into metal but growing up and always hearing Madonna will stay with me. You need to check out 'Into the Groove' and 'Dress You Up'.

You have to remember back then in the 80's it was such a big deal for a woman to be expressing her sexuality in music, and this was also in the early days of music videos too so she really pioneered the art form and laid down the groundwork for just about every pop artist that followed. Of course by todays standards this pales in comparison to the imagery we see in videos but back then it was very scandalous! I loved every minute of it. She's also an amazing live performer if you ever get the chance to see one of her live shows. You will be blown away.

Like a Virgin was released in 1984 on the album of the same name. The song proved to be popular that it hit #1 in Australia, Canada, Japan and it even hit #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100. For his third studio album, Dare to Be Stupid in 1985, Weird Al Yankovic spoofed Like a Virgin as Like a Surgeon and it was actually Madonna who suggested it. She was being interviewed and she asked, “When is Weird Al going to do Like a Surgeon?”

Thank you for noticing the great drumming on this song. It was produced by legendary funk guitarist Nile Rodgers ( from the disco band CHIC) the drumming in this pop song is unusual for the time (1984) because it uses live drums instead of a drum machine. The drummer is Tony Thompson (RIP) Madonna was smart to get a tight funky r&b backing band to make her light catchy pop songs. I love the "Like a Virgin" album. I love this whole era. It's the one that made her a star. My favorite Madonna! Thankyou for reacting💙💙💙💙

Grew up with her. This is 84! I loved her. I wanted to dress like her in her Lucky Star video from her debut album in 83. You cannot go wrong. All songs different and great. I personally think Live to Tell is her best song. Beautiful. Keep checking her out. You know you’re a fan!!!

I was 17 years old in the fall of '84 when this was released. Nile Rodgers of Chic produced it. Tony Thompson of Chic was playing the drums. This jam stayed at #1 on the pop charts (Hot100) for about 2 months straight and also crossed over to the Hot Black chart(R&B) what it was called at the time.

Yes, she was starting out. She was self made despite all of the criticism she received. All her songs were excellent, as you can tell! Her debut song was Borderline, I believe. I love her. She brings everyone to the dance floor! Prince was meanwhile dancing with his behind literally showing, but Madonna got kicked down and criticized. Thank you for reacting to her!

I think she sang this song when she was in her twenties so yeah she sounded very young. Around 30 years ago. In my opinion her best songs we're in the 80s and 90s. Her first full CD Madonna is was amazing!

The producer of this album and single was Nile Rodgers who was one of the band leaders of the group Chic that was popular in the 70s. And he brought his own band members to be the musicians who played on this album. If you want to know who the drummer was then look up the Chic's drummer.

This was probably her biggest ever first hit... because of the video and MTV... people were insane for her. She caused an entire fashion statement with the clothes, and all the women in 1984-1990 were dressing like her. The dance beat is very good and it was played a lot in those clubs.

Her vocals were actually sped up a bit for this recording which is what gave her a different sound (a higher pitch) from the usual. Not sure what they were going for but the effect worked and delivered her the first giant #1 hit of her long career. They did the same for another great track of hers from that time, "Into the Groove."

She was actually 26 when this was released. She switched it up quite a bit after starting with these pop songs. Vogue is a great video. To really hear her vocal talents, “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” and “You Must Love Me” from the movie “Evita” are totally different and very beautiful. “Live To Tell” and “Crazy For You” are great as well and show yet another side of her.
