She’s def an underrated writer/producer. People are too busy shaming her for her age/sexuality/boldness to appreciate her artistry :(

one thing that is rarely mentioned about Madonna is how fast she writes and works. She wrote the lyrics for Vogue in half an hour and the entire Like A Prayer album was written and recorded in a little over three months. Also I'm Breathless, the Dick Tracy album/soundtrack was recorded in three weeks, even though she was tackling a whole different genre of music she was used to.

Madonna is amazing. She threatens so many males, that is the only reason why they try not to give her credit. REGARDLESS, she is an undeniable force in the industry.

Madonna is a very underrated songwriter and producer in her own right. She has written the lyrics and melodies for a great many of her songs. Obviously she relies on trained musicians like the great Pat Leonard or the equally great Rick Nowels to help achieve her visions. She is also a stunningly brilliant dancer and performer with an uncanny, almost unerring visual aesthetic. It is both tiresome and weird the way she is so often relegated to a footnote in her own creative and artistic evolution. By the way, most of the songs on Ray of Light were written by Madonna and Pat Leonard or Madonna and Rick Nowels. I don't think Orbit had anything whatsoever to do with those particular songs although he and Madonna made magic together with songs like Time Stood Still and Beautiful Stranger. And finally, it is telling that many of her collaborators did their most memorable and artistically relevant work with her. End of rant!
