Don’t put them against each other, all 4 ladies SOLD multimillion dollars albums, all have a diamond album or more, every album platinum, 10 or more #1 songs...etc. they’re huge and no need for comparisons. She's not wrong. She's not the best singer, dancer, or actress, but she has a good voice, she's strong, and she was innovative. Her ideas were ahead of the time, and it made everyone watching her go, "hmmm. What if I tried that?" She created her own lane

"They can't do what I do" isn't really shade. I think what she meant was that Madonna is Madonna and they are great at what they do in their own way. Like, Madonna can't do Janet, Janet can't do Mariah etc. There's no need to pit them against each other because they all bring something unique and different to the table.

Mariah Carey was at her peak with Daydream on US Charts/Radio. Whitney had Bodyguard hit film, song, album 92-93 and became a respected actress. Janet was eclipsing her brothers fame/popularity. Madonna had taken huge risks early 90s with failure and really came back with the Evita film, Golden Globes win, motherhood and then her Ray of Light which put her back on top once again .

Although I'm not the biggest Madonna fan, I admire her work, art and contribution to today's music Without her we wouldn't have today's generation of creativeness. She started it all. So as Mariah pioneering Rnb-Pop-Rap collabs, Whitney level standard of voices and so on. Madonna isn't for everybody and she doesn't care. An artist who truly admires and supports her own art and we owe her a lot of respect. She may not be the best vocalist out there but her art is a blueprint. something we can see up to today's music.
