For me...Erotica was the most underrated Madonna album. It eschewed chart success in favor of musicality and originality, and brought underground 90's Club Kid sounds to the mainstream. It's definitely an album that should be more respected (especially as everything else from the 90's is now so prevalent in the zeitgeist). This was the first time that she dared step out of the "pop" bubble and go "Deeper and Deeper (pun intended)" with her sound. I just wish the Madonna of today cared more about her craft than keeping up with the youth...but either way...this is gold.

90's house, this takes me back 24 years ago, Madonna used to have a remarkable job with the then remixes from each single she putted out in the market, i remember the remixes from "erotica", " deeper and deeper", "fever", " justify my love", "reskue me", " secret", "bedtime story", " human nature", "bye bye baby", " i'll remember" and ofcorse this one "up down suite", for me it's her golden era, maybe because i have beautiful memories from my then life!!!!!!! Madge .....i love you!!!!!!

This was song was on the cd single of "Rain" in 1993 here in Germany. This is an instrumental Version of the unrealsed song "Goodbye to innocence", recorded during the erotica sessions. I was a Little disapointed at the time, that she put only an instrumental Version of a complete unkown unrealesed song on the cd. Of Course I was curious to listen the real Version. At that time we had no Internet, no Chance to look for more. We only had to deal with what we bought in the stores...

I used to heard this song in repeat constantly! It bring back so many memories from my teenage years, 90s house music makes me feels sooooooo good!

I bought this 12" as soon as it came out. I got it to the club I was working at to start getting familiar with it, and the bass in the song was so heavy the needle of the turntable just kept skipping. There was a defect in the vinyl, it was magnitude of bass. That was the first and only time I experienced anything like that before. I tried weighing it down a little with a couple pennies on top of the needle, but that didn't work very well either. Great song, but I was unable to play it for my customers. =(I'm happy to hear it again. Thanks for sharing!

This remix is AWESOME!!!! 20 years ago I was really disappointed with Rain maxi single, especially with this track. It felt wierd and boring. Recently it popped out as next recommended track on KZfaq and I'm so OBSESSED with it now!!! Sometimes one must simply grow up to appreciate uniqueness of this PURE BRILLIANCE!!!!!!!!

...although we ALL know this was an unfinished alternate track ('Goodbye To Innocence'), "Up Down Suite" was worked over into a "Vocal Dub", and issued to the 'Clubs', while "Rain" was marketed to Pop Radio, at the time....It was VERY unprecedented that a Vocal Artist would release a 'dub' (that wasn't created exclusively by a remix producer) for Dance-Club consumption in 1993 / 1994...... Madonna REALLY set a new standard for what a 'Pop' Artist can do for the "Dance" genre; Beyonce, Rhianna, and yes, even Janet, LEARNED from what Madonna was creating during the "Erotica" era, and, became skilled Dance Club Legends, THEMSELVES.... "UDS" was HUUUUUUGE in the Clubs, but never really caught on, due to it being a 'Dub'...Madonna's ONLY 'Club / Dub' hit, aside from Peter Raufoher's Dub mix of "Impressive Instant".....good times, GOOD times.....
