Yes. Madonna is a free spirit who has always remained true to herself. And as you point out, she refuses point blank to play the submissive oh please love me type. Frankly I don't think she knows how! Modern-day genius is a good description. I always refer to her ballads as Chopinesque pop and see all pretenders doomed to play Salieri to her Mozart!

Had completely forgotten about that. Like I said, you write very well and are clearly well-informed. It's always difficult to tread the line between downright mean and nasty and the killer putdown. Have always loved Madonna's music, dancing and performances. I'm not looking for a salt of the earth, Mother Teresa type in my pop stars and couldn't give a fig whether she's a lovely, kind person. She's a pop star not my friend!

Let's blame The Weinstein company, as i said they promoted "My Week with Marilyn" and "The Iron Lady" (probably because both films will be Oscar worthy... or at least nominated) but they did absolutely nothing to promote and distribute W.E. That's a fact. I kinda feel sad for Andrea because i heard she's the best part of the movie and at least she deserved to be nominated or something. Actually Madonna in her speech dedicated the award to her.
