Brian - I highly recommend you interview a skilled drummer, maybe specifically a jazz drummer, and talk about the similarities between handling a drumstick and fly rod, as well as the mechanics of the lower arm itself and the thumb itself. Start with Dan Bukvich at U. Idaho, LHSOM.

Love the videos and hope they keep gaining traction! Would love to see a video on "Must Have Southern Fly Fishing". I have the opportunity to fly fish the high rockies in the late summers - towards Gunnnison and Crested Butte and love loads of fun with dry flies on smaller mountain streams but I spend most of my time in the southern states and can't figure out how to get on a consistant bite "out east". Thanks for your time!! ps. Do you reuse a leader if you switch? ie. Throwing a nymph one day then switching to larger flies for smallies- wooly bugger? Thanks again!

Brian, I really like your videos and all of the great information you put out there. I have two questions if you don't mind. The first is that I use a 3 point grip because the thumb on top gets painful after a while due to some arthritis in the thumb joint. Is that ok in your opinion? Also, I have two books by Lefty Kreh and noticed he tends to keep the rod much lower and takes it farther back and I was wondering what your thoughts are on that. Thanks for all the great stuff!

OOPSIE! Great video, but as a longtime, tournament steel darts player, need to point out that in darts, a right-handed person throws darts with right foot forward, lefties with left foot forward. Opposite of throwing a baseball or football. So while the simple, elbow-to-wrist movement of the arm throwing a dart is similar to fly casting, your footing while casting would be comparable to tossing a baseball.
