It’s kinda ridiculous. Mae talks like she knows how everything was and is supposed to be, yet those ways ended 300 years ago. She never got to experience what those times were like!! Trevathan was right, earth had been the apes world for so long, that the way things were don’t apply anymore!!

Mae killing Trevathan was the unexpected moment I was waiting for in this film, as was the later scene of her using a gun. I appreciate how callous they made Mae in certain moments, and how symbolically loaded this action is. Mae represents the stubborn drive of humanity to continue into the future, whether or not the world remembers them, and so Trevathan, representing the submission to this new world order, is everything she fears. To her, a life under the apes spells the end of humanity, regardless of whether under Proximus or someone like the Eagle Clan, a future as nothing more than animals that she cannot accept.

He's an opportunistic traitor. If he had a choice between humanity prospering as a certainty, he'd choose the apes because they are CURRENTLY the better horse to bet on, it doesn't matter to him whether humans thrive or not, just whoever is currently in power.

I like how the dainty-looking woman is the one who chokes Trevathan to death while the three chimps watch in horror. The one who looks the least beast-like behaves in the most beast-like way.

Previously, the chimpanzees thought humans were weak animals who could not speak so they did not dare to kill. After this incident, they had a different view and also recognized that the bunker was invented by humans.

Trevathan's kinda tragic. He's a victim of circumstance. He's only an antagonists because Proximus found him first. Imagine if he'd been found by Raka instead? He's not of the mindset that the planet belongs to Humans anymore, so any and all knowledge he has he's willing to share. The tragic irony is that if he'd have been found by better Apes than Proximus, he'd have done more to work toward Ape and Human coexistence than Mae ever would.

I wish Kingdom of the planet of the apes dived more into Trevathan, hopefully there is like a few deleted scenes to give fans more information. There is just a lot of questions I have for this character, like where and how far was is vault or bunker? Why did he leave his vault or bunker and was he alone? Why did he make it a goal to reach the coast,what was he going to do there when he made it? What was his role in his bunker community?

I have a funny sense of relatability with Trevathan and Mae Like Mae, I know the history of my people and I’m hopeful we can recapture our former glory and get our culture thriving at full capacity again. And I know a lot of people like Trevathan. They’re not exactly traitors to our people, but they’ve simply come to accept the way things are.

I think a conflict like this would have worked better if less time than 300 years had passed since the events of Caesar's trilogy. Mae's character is interesting, but would she be so obsessed to go back to a world that not even her great-grandparents witnessed? Also, she expects Trevathan to know everything about that old world and to be on the same page as her. Sure, he can read, but he might have no clue about the past, just like the Eagle Clan had forgotten about Caesar and their origins.

I think it still works. A blind idealism of the past that even today people used for justifying horrific acts and such. Mosillini with the Roman Empire, Putin with Tsar Russia, CPP with the numerous chinese empires.

I'm really curious on where Trevathan got those books and how are they in good condition after 300 years of the exposure to the elements. How does a guy just give up and quickly submit to the apes? Also I may sound like that guy but why the hell did Trevathan teach Proximus just the Roman Empire, there were other great civilizations with great skills in warfare and construction that he could have taught Proximus. I'm just saying here if I was I Trevathan's position I would have taught Proximus about the Carthaginian Empire, Aztec Empire, Inca Empire Mongol Empire, the Comanche, Apache, Vikings, etc. Mostly I would have taught Proximus how to read!!!

Proxima is more interested because it was lead by Caesar. The books might of been buried and vacuum sealed. and stockholm syndrome. But hey look at some of the comments here and look ar real life. Look at all the white liberals saying how evil they are. how the left brainwash people with self hate. look at Europe. Giving up their own country to Muslims and emphasizing how Europe colonized other countries. Ignoring the fact that Muslims did the same thing. they colonized Spain, Portugals, parts of france and Italy, and the entire Balkans and the entire black sea. They conquered and still oppress Christians in their indigenous homes. Look how they treat Armenians assyrians, and Coptics and other groups. Arab comes from Arabia. Why are they in North Africa, Israel, Syria, and Iraq. Yes , it was wrong , but people didn't understand that, because everyone else was doing it, but the solution isnt compensation, its learning from the past and not doing it again. why should france compensate North Africans , for colonizing that area. North Africa invaded southern france. Im not talking about Hannibal, I'm talking about the Moors in Spain decided to extend their hold passed Pyrenes.

I don't get why she did that. All he pretty much knew is the world ruled by apes. It's like if someone came up to me and ask me to fight for the first humans who walked the earth, that was thousands and thousands of years ago (or in the movies case, 300 years ago)
