I just researched that Mae Jemison once danced in the background in _West Side Story_ at 14 years of age.

This is an credible woman. This is my 1st time hearing about her, so at 1st I wondered why do they have this young woman, on the Black History series. But after not only viewing this video, but another one, about her I can see why. She is an absolutely talented young woman who is not just sitting on her talents, she is working them. She is such a very good inspirational role model, esp for the younger generation. Keep it up young lady, Dr. Mae C. Jennison , MD, astronaut. ✌❤🙏🌟🌲🌹

Women have to work twice as hard as men to achieve something. And black people have to work 10 times as hard as white people to achieve something. Combine the two obstacles, and the fact that this woman overcame them to be what she wanted to be, and we have one of the greatest people of our time. Certainly a huge inspiration for me, speaking as a black man who loves science.

respect my Black female. You are a true inspiration for other blacks women to follow. I pray that many more like you get covered by youtube videos. I want all my black females to realize their potential and also encourage each other than fight in school and waste time. Black teens the future is yours for the conquering.

When I was 6,7 in 94, I declared I wanted to be an astronaut. My mom introduced me to her (in knowledge) to show me that someone like me, an African American, can be just as good as any Caucasian astronaut. She became my hero. I'm still and forever intrigued with NASA and Space. I may not have "the right stuff" to be an astronaut, but she is still my hero!! :)
