Hi Stacey, that's exactly what I said to my husband! Mae West was a Hollywood maverick who fully controlled her career and image long before either any other actor either male or female did.A true American Icon!

I believe that Mae didn't own a lot of real diamonds - some vintage pieces from the 30sthey came up for sale after Pauls death!i believe that Mae had a LARGE collection of real diamonds - she sold the lot during WW2 and gave the funds for war reliefWhat a Woman!

i am late to the party on these videos, but i was inspired to get into contact with Tim Malachosky. this gentleman went above and beyond for me. i just purchased one of his out of print books, a signed Mae West photo and a signed check from the 30's! i am an amateur collector of the golden/silver age. i can't wait to read his book. he is just as authentic as you see in the videos and i encourage anyone who is a true fan to contact him through facebook. hopefully one day i can encourage him to part with a gown or something! as far as the museum idea, i asked if he would consider crowd-sourcing. if anyone thinks this is a good idea or might consider a donation, like/thumbs up?! maybe, HOPEFULLY we as a whole can get Ms. West a museum she deserves.

btw, i asked what her favorite movie of hers was, and he gave me two answers. "She Done Him Wrong" and "I'm No Angel." She happened to write both of those screenplays, and coincidentally (or not) Cary Grant was in each! enjoy!

Oh, Dearie, Thanks so much!👑. It was so nice to Come Up and See You! Mae was an INSTITUTION. Actually saw her present trophy for 1977 Mr. America! Her comment, Oh, this guy's got everything and it's all in the right places! This was a highlight of my first trip to Hollywood! 😎. Also drove past Ravenswood. In college, I wrote a paper on her and got an A. She will never be replaced. One of a kind.👑. 🏆

I don’t understand how her stuff isn’t in Planet Hollywood or something. She needs her own museum ! I’d actually cry if I owned a piece of her clothing or her fans, I wish he’d consider selling or donating to her most loyal fans. It’s not even about making money, but it would be cherished forever and her memory kept alive cause I’d never stop telling people about it lmao !

This was such a great 2 part video of the Fabulous Ms. West. I have always been a fan and admirer of this icon. She had a maid that stayed with her for many years by the name of Daisy, who was my Aunt. The story from my aunt was that some of the characters that played maids in her films were named after her. Also, Ms. West was definitely a boxing fan, as a matter of fact she took care of a prize fighter that was confined to a wheel chair, that she helped to his death. Mae paid for a fabulous funeral for him. The boxers last name was Jones the same as my aunts. So when they would be out she would tell that he was the relation to my aunt since they had the same last name!! She was and will always be a MAGNIFICENT Star!!

Many thanks. Miss West was a financial supporter of an orchestra for high school aged musicians and after a concert, this was in the early 70’s, where she and other supporters where asked to come up on stage, I was alone back stage and Miss West was making her way to leave in the opposite direction and we passed by each other. I was too shy to say anything to her, being truly star-struck, and I have kicked myself all these decades later.

A lot of people do not know that Mae had a recording career. Small as it was. I have three of her original albums. Two recorded in the 1966 time frame and One in the late 1970's or 1980. The titles are: Way Out West; Great Balls Of Fire; and a terrific Christmas album, Mae In December. They are very very good and fun to listen to! Find them and have a listen! J

I think someone should coordinate with Tim to create an actual museum where all her pieces could be put together creating her persona as she created it, including the scripts she wrote with her costumes and perfumes n hats n wigs n furniture, totally preserving her life for posterity!!! Hope you find a partner to help preserve her fabulous history!!! This was so awesome that you put this together, Jordan, and it is so cool to see such a young person so reverent of such an iconic, early Hollywood era maven as the uniquely fabulous Mae West!!!! Thank you for preserving her for another and future generations!!! Attaboys, Jordan and Tim!!!!

I have seen this video a few times and I'm always amazed at all the things tim has of Mae's. I grew up in the area where Mae West was raised in Brooklyn and I moved back a few years ago. When I first found out she grew up here in Williamsburg, Bushwick and Greenpoint areas of Brooklyn, I was so excited and honored. I was even more touched when I discovered Mae's resting place is just a short walking distance from my Mom & Dads grave site in Cypress Hills cemetery. I payed my respects to Mae before and was happy to see they have chairs to sit in, in the Mausoleum where Mae is at. I sat there for a few minutes and said a prayer for her. Mae's family are also resting there, which was nice to see. I pray one day soon all those items tim has are all put in a Museum for really safe keeping. Mae West did so much for Hollywood and saved Paramount Pictures from closing that the right respectful thing to do would be to put Miss West things on display for all her fans and the world to see. She was one incredible woman who I would've loved to have met. I always felt she deserves more respect as far as her memory is concerned. RIP Mae West, you were one of a kind!!!💕💕💕

LOVED HER..she would never make it in today's Hollywood. She was too Brooklyn, too non-fake and ahead of her time. Too bad. She even went to jail twice over two of her plays, "SEX" and "HOMOSEXUAL" on Broadway, she was more Theater than Hollywood. She hated Hollywood, she said she couldn't breathe there. The Hollywood crowd was different than the Broadway crowd lol but she retired there. She just didn't know when to stop performing and a lot of humiliating publicity by ass holes but I wish she wouldn't have done that. She was 65 years old no Botox, singing and moving sexually with young body builders, the things she did back in the days and it was a different audience than she knew. I felt bad for her towards the later years.

If you see one of these Emerson radios for sale at a Garage Sale or Estate Sale, be sure and buy it regardless of the condition in which the radio may be today. It can be restored by many radio collector's who specialize in radio restoration work. The Emerson Mae West radio (with AM and Shortwave Bands) is highly valued by collector's today. The Emerson Mae West radio came in several smaller tabletop models and also a large Console floor model. There are several KZfaq videos on these Emerson Mae West radios. They were all made in the late 1930's in beautiful wooden cabinets made by the noted Ingraham Company and designed by one of the most famous Industrial Designers in the United States at the time. The radio was quite controversial at the time because of its' unique design.

One of the episodes of the popular 1930's radio show "Calling All Cars" has an episode dealing with the night Mae West was actually robbed in Los Angeles. "Calling All Cars" was a forerunner of "Dragnet" and other popular police shows from the Golden Age of Radio. I think that particular episode can be found on KZfaq under "Calling All Cars" vintage radio show. This radio episode is available through Radio Archives out of Spokane, Washington, a company that specializes in the restoration of vintage radio shows, and "Calling All Cars" is an episode they offer for sale in either CD or domputer download MP3 formats that includes the "Mae West Robbery" episode.
