The NYPD already had enough evidence after they found their DNA on case files in a Luchesse mobster's home during a raid, pure power as decorated cops kept them from going down then, but then the fat one went on Sally Jessica Raphel show, bragged about police brutality, defended Gotti, and a witness to his murder whose kid was killed by them then reported him saying that and his partner were the guys that killed her son. He also brought on his partner's brother who was boasting mafia are good people. Finally, Gaspipe, an underboss, enraged that one of them was on tv. had turned informant and described the crimes he had them do in detail which the cops traced.
