These coolers are Awsome. I use mine to keep bluegill alive for flathead catfishing. And when I'm fishing for blugills I use the rod holders. Best little cooler I ever had.

Have it and it been great one day it will be on the back of a blue sky kyak for now it fit great on a rolling cooler to fish off a dock.

I love this thing for catfishing. I put 14 blue gill in this for 2 days. Did not change the water. 1 bubble box 80 degrees out. All survived. I use the rod holders just to keep mine of the ground when not is use. So no one will break them.

There’s also a nice one by Engel I’ve reviewed it also, but it’s not as well made in my opinion.. This one has held up really well. The latches on the Engel didn’t last very long..

@@stevem.4993 The one thing I hate about the Engel is the lid isn't very sturdy if you want to sit on it. There are lots of pictures online of bent lids on the Engel.

They've changed the dimensions. I just purchased a Magellan 30qt and mine is 22.5W X 12.25D X 14H. It barely doesn't fit my kayak. If it were his dimensions, it would easily fit in my well.

This is the 19 qrt, they also make a 30 qrt. Both should be available online. I see a lot of pier fisherman using the bigger one but the smaller one works better for a kayak..

No clue where you found the 22.5W one, because 30qt is the largest dry box that have and its 18W

I agree with you about the lid... It needs to be flat. Do they really think someone needs FOUR drink holders on a bait box/dry box?! It's like they thought they could pretend it has more features by molding the cupholders, but it just looks gaudy. I feel like they could easily revise this into a dedicated cooler/dry box version and sell it for a lot more... Make a simple, flat lid. Ditch the rod holders. Ditch the aerator port. Ditch the top handle. Replace the cheap plastic front latch with two rubber latches or two metal clasps. Boom. I'd happily pay $80 for this thing.

Alright, I took the lid apart. The reason they made the lid that way is because the entire cooler is constructed with ABS plastic and not HDPE like high-end coolers. When you take the lid apart, you can see webbing to try and strength the lid. The drink holders and all those contours on the lid are serving to help provide rigidity to the product. If they made it flat it would be pretty flimsy.

@@fishinbama The Engel's had (have?) issues with their lids irreversibly bending/warping if you used the box as a seat (one of my primary intentions when looking at dry boxes), which is why I decided against it. There's a reason they sell replacement lids.

That is a genius idea about mounting a cutting board in the lid....did you ever do it? If so, how did it work out?

My biggest issue with this cooler is the rear quick latch clips to remove the lid. They break too easily and there are no replacement parts for the latch clips. Any suggestions?

Haven’t had an issue with mine yet but I can see that it might be a problem. I’ll check and see what I can come up with.

It’s been great for minnows, I’ve even used it for our bluegill catch last fall.

Could also use it to keep your crappies alive and fresh its kinda big just for normal minnows. I use it for mud minnows when saltwater fishing though.

They're insulated I believe

The bottom is definitely insulated, but I'm not sure on the lid.

I took it apart. There is insulation in the lid; it's actually a piece of styrofoam. The lid is rather complex in shape, so I assume that's why they used styrofoam because it is profiled to match the shape inside.

leblunt27 no I bought aftermarket tie downs. Also screwed in the rod holders since they are loose. It’s been holding great on my ski lol even at 50 mph 🤭

xentrik1 Yes. I really like this one better. The rod holders aren’t great but the cooler is well built and a lot more stable. I can actually stand on this one and not worry about it breaking. I also really like the Aerator hose hole making it easy to use as a live well..Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Stay safe

This one is still small enough with all four rod holders installed it should easily fit in your rack.. Only negative is I had to add a small set screws to secure the rod holders so they won’t bump loose..
