Sharp eye, that is kayak anchor. Thanks for watching this cooler really held up in the south Texas heat. Most people would try and keep their cooler in the shade, but I really wanted to test it.

There's another thing to consider that pushes the Moosejaw over the top. Take any 2 coolers of identical construction, be they both Moosejaw or both Magellan or both Yeti, if they are of different sizes, the larger one will have an advantage because of its higher thermal mass. I suspect this means the Moosejaw is a clear winner.

Great comment. I also think the color of the cooler makes a difference. There was a 20° difference in the surface temperature. If they were the same color, we might have seen a different outcome . Thanks for watching.

@@everydaysouthtexan got it for 150 plus tax. It didnt have the clean ice tray but moosejaw sending it to me free of charge. So walmart is putting them on clearance because they have sold the moosejaw brand to dicks sporting goods! Thanks for the review!

the color of the cooler makes a difference as well. Dark coolers attract more sunlight and heat. Light coolers or white coolers have an advantage.

I literally bought the Moosejaw this evening a few hours ago while making a grocery bill. Ive been wanting a really nice ice chest for a while and saw this one on sale. I cant wait to give it a go!

On Moosejaw's website, it says the cooler is good for dry ice down to -109.3 degrees F. At least thats what it says for the 50 quart cooler

I got similar results with my Moosejaw here in FL. I wonder if upgrading to the new Rtic 72 wheeled cooler is worth the extra cost.

As a fisherman, which do you like better, Magellan or Moosejaw? I do surf fishing and was looking for something new recently.. I just can't make a decision.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. I prefer the Moosejaw only because the wheels can role over anything. Magellan does have a marine cooler, but it doesn't have wheels. The marine white reflects the heat and sun off the surface, so that helps ice retention. It also depends on how much space you need. Do you need 55qts or 75qts. Both are on sale right now. Not a fair comparison comparing a 70qt to a 55qt filling them both to capacity. Should have at least filled both with the same amount of ice. I always see these videos with unfair comparisons a lot. Also comparing $400 coolers with way more insulation to $60 coolers or even $100 coolers for ice retention. Very unfair. It should be even comparisons across the board. $100 coolers with other $100 coolers. 55qt coolers with other 55qt coolers and so on to be fair.

I agree with you there. The only thing that is the same about these two is the price point when I purchased them. I mainly wanted to show ice retention for both of them and how they performed in the south Texas heat. Thanks for watching.
