I can't recall the Magic 8 Ball being advertised on TV and I'm 62. Was it ever ? In toy stores and sections in department stores it was always as ubiquitous as the Frisbee, however.

You're not supposed to shake the magic 8 ball, according to its instructions. Shaking it will cause white bubbles which will interfere with the performance of the ball itself.
