Because it’s staged with fake audience reactions. The entertainment value in Magic acts is generated by creating an illusion that the audience can’t explain. When this faked, to anybody with half a brain it loses its entertainment value.

I’ve never watched the show so I’m probably wrong, but from what I’m piecing together from this and the one where he “makes someone believe they disappeared”, even though he really just tricked the viewers watching the show into believing that he thought he disappeared, is that this is kind of the point of the show. Seems like he’s purposely poking fun at tv magicians and hoping to prank as many viewers as he can along the way

@@maxgo111 It is a classic trick, there is a trap door under the green sheet and his assistant is removing his clothes as the curtain raises then hides. As he throws the curtain up on goes the mask and gets into position.

@@GrzlyBore Yeah some of his tricks in the netflix show seemed like the people and their reactions were staged and in on the trick. The netflix viewers are the real people getting a magic trick pulled on them unlike a live show where generally most of the audience is unaware of whats going on.

I WAS this show and guys biggest advocate....Until boredom struck... and I saw it happen for myself. .. TWICE I've now seen 2 things that make this VERY hard to trust AT ALL! As a magician watching close I see sleighs, I see gimmicks, I see misdirection, jogs, false this or double that I see a lot of good magician work... BUT in the season 1 episode titled "Terrifying Tech" during the vr scene there is a woman that exposes it by herself as she moves her feet up the SECOND she lifts off the ground and right back DOWN THE INSTANT she drops to the ground - we ALL know vr isn't that good....watch close, and how do they not see a crane that will be lifting them and for real the one without the chair sitting on the crane rigging itself COME ON!??? Really? The second instance I spotted because I know and actually use the trick! Just before the vr bit he is doing a 'trick questions' gag and he changes a card being waved in the air which is common and a very cool effect. But...you clearly see the back of the card and its not the card that comes out where it's suddenly manifested without a trick, really it's a normal card back... the way this trick is done makes that an impossible fact unless he's cheating... that illusion is done with 2 cards back to back and while shaking them you quickly flip to the other side showing the real choice seeming to change the card itself "magically"...as we saw the back in the beginning with no movements flip a card even or even a sly move to for it... its now leaning on false to me which is pathetic. The platform of the show is violated! My bad it seems that it all indeed bs. Sorry I defended it. Misplaced faith and trust in a fellow magician. If I am wrong I would appreciate a reply!! Thanks all. I think David Blaine should spout on this guy now. For those that don't know David is famous for really doing horrifying painful stuff for public entertainment and shock.
