This was an amazing amazing reaction. I've watched more people react to this and they don't listen they talk over it they interrupted but you? Not only will you listening but at the end you asked us if there was anything more you could learn. Thank you! I'll watch this every time I see it. They handed the torch to Michael, and he elevated the NBA. But Larry and Magic saved it. One hundred percent. The game was going down before they arrived, and it was something really special to watch. It was a great time to be alive.

What they dont mention in this is Bird after all the surgeries and back injuries still averaged almost a triple double. He was still an all star.

One of the best documentaries I've ever seen. I'm a Bird fan but have always respected what Magic brought to the game. Just subscribed. I wish more young people were willing to look into this history.

Bird scored 19 points in this championship game set a record for free throws and played with a fractured thumb that he fractured playing against Arkansas razorbacks. In which he had a monster game. So for bird this was not his best game. He had an amazing block and some great passes but he didn't have a game up to his standards. Bird and magic were the greatest players you watch. Hey, loved your reaction. My favorite part was you pointing out that no one boxes out anymore. One of the reasons I can't watch games anymore. When I played, I did not care about the points as much as rebounding and part of that skill is knowing how to box out. My favorite team growing up was the 76ers with Dr. J and Moses Malone. However, my favorite all time player is Dennis Rodman. He could careless about points but loved rebounding. He holds the record with the most rebounds with zero points. 28 rebounds. (and he blocked out) you can't tell me that that statistic did not help his team to succeed.

Bird & Magic breathed life into the NBA & paved the way for those that followed. The game evolves, the players evolve. But without those two, they’d probably still be televising playoff games at 11pm. Jordan, Kobe, Jokic, Curry, LeBron & so many other greats, are there because Magic & The Hick from French Lick, put basketball into the American collective, and the Dream Team took it around the world. Praise for them all…..especially Magic & Bird.

Check out the 1992 Dream Team documentary. It's basically a continuation of this one, and almost as good. It shows how the game went global with the addition of Michael Jordan, after Bird and Magic saved the NBA from bankruptcy. Bird, Magic, Jordan, Pippen, Ewing, Robinson, Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Drexler, all on the same team!

Since Bird and Magic retired, the finals viewership according to Nielsen ratings has gone down almost every year - more than 30% in 30 years (1992-2022). Look at the crowds at games in the 80's compared to today. Fans aren't as excited as they used to be. In my opinion, the NBA needed to make foul rule changes because of the injuries but they took it too far and now we have a lackluster, no defense game that just isn't very compelling. It doesn't help that players today follow the money or their friends so if you do have a favorite player on your city's team you don't know how long he will be there so your loyalty level (and theirs) isn't as great.
