I just bought my first Macbook and was not sure about what mouse I should buy, but I wish I found this video before i bought my magic mouse 2. I used it for 2 weeks but I did not find it comfortable at all so I ended up selling the mouse for $20.00 usd and buy the logitech MX master 3S and I'm very happy with the materials and the shape of the mouse. It is very ergonomic. I love it.

Super useful review! I do wish someone would compare the vertical + horizontal scrolling of conventional scroll wheels vs. the Magic Mouse, which I believe can move around more like the Trackpad (more axes)

Excellent review and comparison. I have used the Magic Mouse 2 for about a year and a half now. It does the job, but I am guessing video editing would be real nice with the MX Master 3. When I first purchased my Mac in 2020, I was using Filmora 9 to edit. The Magic Mouse provided by far the most frustrating experience ever in editing. With the touch gestures the cursor on the screen kept jumping around messing up my edits. I soon upgraded to Final Cut Pro, and there seems to be no issues like I had with Filmora using the Magic Mouse. Haven't looked at Filmora since. As for the 1%, I feel you lol. I have the same issue my friend. Take care and again great review. I may just go buy mine today. Just two quick questions, is this the Mac version you are using for the MX3 or the "Anything Version" that comes with the USB dongle? Have you by chance used the MX3 with an iPad and if so how was your experience?

Does the MX master 3 still have issues working with M1 MacBooks? I heard they lag regularly and get stuck on mac, same with MX Keys mini due to compatibility issues with Bluetooth

I've got 2 magic Mice and heither affects the cursor on the screen. Is there a USB receiver that needs to be inserted in the computer? I don't understand these things.

Thanks for this video, I actually tried to use a Microsoft Surface Ergonomic mouse with my Mac - and it just doesn't work right. It glitches when clicking on things. Very few people probably try to use this combination - so I was looking at the Logitech MX3. Which I think is not as good as the Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Mouse; but it probably does not have software glitches. I am using an Apple Magic Mouse 2 for now and miss the ergonomic shape of the Microsoft mouse. I wish Apple would just make a real ergonomic mouse so I would not have to consider the tradeoffs of the Logictech. I am sure the Apple mouse will work perfectly when it comes to software compatibility; but as others have commented - it is just not very ergonomically shaped. And for long projects, this helps.

I've got all the MX masters since gen1 and I have both a 3S at home and at my office and recently switched to MM2. I couldn't care less about the charge port since you get notified of low battery way before the end of a work day so you can go about your day and then just plug in when you leave the office and you're good. I don't understand why people are making this the big issue. It can charge like 4 or 5 hours worth of battery usage in the time it takes me to get up, take a leak and refill my drink. Also, better touch tools for Mac really unlocks the true potential of the magic mouse giving you tons of customization for swipes, gestures, clicking, tapping, etc. you have to approach the MM2 more like a track pad that you physically move around rather than a tradition clicky mouse. The biggest reason for my switch though is connectivity. I've tried both my 3S's (I have even sent 2 back to amazon thinking they were messed up) with my M1 MBP, my wife's M1 MBP and my M1 mini at the office and the 3S stutters and lags on all 3 mac's when using bluetooth. The ONLY way I was able to get smooth performance is to connect the bolt adapter into a usb port on the device but NOT a thunderbolt dock. That doesn't work. It still stutters with the dock and this is with the bolt adapter literally less than a foot from the mouse so it's not a connectivity distance or obstructed view issue. Switching to the MM2 gives me a usb port back on my devices and gives me a silky smooth mouse experience. As for comfort, I'm a claw grip anyways so it was easy to adjust. Oh and that rubberized material on the side and top of the logitech will eventually get tacky and sticky and there is no way to fix it. This is not an issue with the MM2 since it's just metal and glass. For the keyboard stuff though, yeah... the MX mechanical board DESTROYS the magic keyboard. I have 2 and they're great. They've replaced my traditional Cherry MX boards.

Thanks, but how come you did not mention the most important feature of the Magic Mouse, the scrolling quality which can not be reproduced with Logitech the same way. Apple simply does not allow this integration to be made, and this is the only reason to keep the Magic Mouse.

i love my mx master3 so much i bought a 2nd for my work office. For what I do and being on a computer for over 10 hours a day i need something that is comfortable not looks pretty.

I am not sure about the "cheap materials" with MX Master 3. I actually find the surface great, it's matte and uniform, so it reduces the annoying dust and dirt of so many gaming mice while giving you a really nice grip. It's not a flaweless mouse (an additional middle button right behind the wheel, that is a bit bigger would've been perfect) but material wise I don't really think it is behind. I mean in the video the Magic Mouse does look more dirtier, simply because of the material.

I'm consider switching mouse. I currently have Logitech m570 but it lags when I'm using the mouse on the mac pro m1. I wondering if i will have the same experience with the Logitech MX Master 3? I just want an ergonomic mouse as i dont think the magic trackpad is ergonomic.

It might be exaggerated for me, because I have larger hands than most, but the Magic Mouse actively hurts my hands to use for longer than 30 minutes at a time, making everything else it has going for it useless. I hope that Apple will decide to release a new Magic Mouse generation a reasonable shape, although I have a feeling that they would rather sell a Magic Mouse "Pro" with an ergonomic shape and a much heftier price tag.

For Mac, nothing beats the Magic Mouse. People who complain about the 'grip' - you're missing the point. It's not meant to be a claw grip. It's supposed to be moved with your fingers.

I bought both recently with my new M1 Mac mini, upgraded to Monterey. I like the MX except... several times I assigned button and they don't always work - sometimes they work, but not every time. (eg - click down on the scroll wheel to show desktop). Drives me crazy. The Magic Mouse, although not as customizable, every gesture works every time, and I find scrolling and moving between desktops much more intuitive. So the MX is going back.

Did you say 3 finger swipe on the magic mode to open apps? This is the one thing I’ve been trying to figure out. It didn’t work for me. Any tips?

The MX Master is a very good and comfortable mouse to use. However, mine started to disintegrate after less than two years. The rubber coating became sticky and very gross to the touch. If they would make one with a non rubber coating I'd trade my new Magic Mouse for a new MX Master.

Well I have Logitech MX Master 3 & it is one of the best mouse I ever used & marketwise this is one of the best mice created by Logitech & if you talk about Computer Mice, Logitech MX series will dominate no matter you talk for Windows OC, Linux PC or Mac PC. Ignore Apple, not even HP & Microsoft can make a mouse design that MX Master series have. If you talk about mice, Logitech definitely picks a Win!

I have both mice and both windows and macbook. So far i prefer to use the mx master 3 with my windows laptop and magic mouse 2 with my macbook. Magic mouse has surface touch which is very useful for me so we can navigate in mouse easier than using the scroll wheel. MX 3 is too big eventhough i'm a big guy and the design is too weird for my taste

If "universal control" function is not important for you then go with the Logitech, because currently there is a bug making the the logitech to cause an error in the universal control by making the shift buttons of the keyboard stop working while using universal control

Kind of a bad take. The materials on the MX are more premium not less. It’s a mouse not a sculpture. Comfortable soft touch surfaces which allow for grip and mechanical switches which allow you to right and left click in quick succession (unlike the Magic Mouse) are all obviously superior in a mouse. The Magic Mouse is a barely usable gimmick. The charging port location should tell you all you need to know about his device. Your take is the modern equivalent of saying the one button puck mouse has superior materials because it’s got that cool looking bondi blue translucence.

I would choose MX3 if the price is the same with the Magic Mouse 2 but I don't really need those extra features for Pro user so I'm sticking with my Magic Mouse 2 for now

I tired of Logitech, my MX 2 and my MX3s are melting their soft materials, with the day-a-day use. But I think, the glass of Magic Mouse is better on this question, they don't melt in your hands. PS* - My MX Mini, are loosing the letters on the caps, this is so much for me. TIRED OF THIS.

I bought the mx master 3 instead of the mm2 and i am now returning it. Although the design, custom buttons are good, the scroll is simply unbearable. It is not smooth at all, and when set to the free scroll option, it reacts to the smallest touch.

how is this video as long as it is. the logitech mx master absolutely annihilates the magic mouse from apple. it doesn't feel to light, and while not made out of aluminum, it definitely feels very satisfying to touch, hold, and operate. and the functionality is stellar. the magic mouse, is sleek, beautiful, and utterly enraging and annoying to use - it doesn't ever feel right in the hand, because it is not shaped for the human hand, it's sliding gestures are few and some need to be turned off to be usable. and finally it is unusable when recharging because the lightning-port is on the bottom! just get the logitech mouse, there is absolutely no comparison.

Been using a Magic Mouse 2 for quite a while back in the day. While I got used to it, I would still say ergonomically it's one of the worst mice out there. For me though, I would still go with that instead of the MX Master 3 because of reasons I mentioned in one of your previous videos.

Why do Apple users torture themselves with Apple accessories?

LogiOptions is awful and super unreliable. The mouse would reset to default settings at total random, I forced myself to use it for over a year, but I ended up switching back to the Magic Mouse. The mouse is nice and comfy, but the software that controls it its plain terrible.

honestly, the magic mouse is what happens when you prioritize aesthetic over function, by far the WORST mouse I have ever used. It was glossy so it got grubby constantly, and there was a sharp upper edge where your thumb was meant to go.

The myth of the MX Master 3 being the best mouse around. The sensor is great, but you can get it with other cheaper, more useful Logi mice. The software customization and flexibility is nice. But the free-spin scroll wheel is UNBEARABLE in both modes, it's literally the worst scrolling experience I've ever had and no amount of tinkering can solve it. It's a daily battle. The horizontal wheel is almost unusable, it never seems to translate the movement you want, it's either too sensitive or not depending on the element. And then the finishing, which will get stick and grimy after a week of use. Any color other than black will get stained quickly. My advice: get a Logitech G305, it costs half as much, has the same sensor and it's the best mouse I've ever used, even without all the bells and whistles.

I love the simplicity of the Magic Mouse better. I love the fact that you can do pretty anything with it with just the surface. I returned the MX3 today because it was too complex to use in my opinion. Nonetheless, I did love the ergonomics of the MX3 better. It actually pained me to have returned it.

it annoys me how apple purposely doesn’t have mouse options that every other operating system know to mankind has because they expect you to use either the trackpad or their outdated magic mouse for simple stuff like zooming and smooth scrolling. You have a third party mouse on mac? Your scrolling will be clunky and jank. You want to zoom in? The basic Ctrl+Scroll option has to be enabled, and it doesn’t work for the majority of programs. Like f you apple for expecting people to buy a outdated mouse just to use basic features. And I wouldn’t be complaining if the mouse was actually decent to use but its not, its cramped and the “Touchgesture” isn’t responsive because the scroll area is somehow too sticky to actually slide your finger through with ease (Even from a apple store. Dont even bother with the Magic Mouse, get the Logitech MX 3 or even that cooler Ergonomic Upright one and make sure you have either logitech options or MOS on mac to make the scrolling actually work

The Magic Mouse's ergonomics are so trash, they show everything bad about mac (form over function, a blasphemy for real engineers). The Magic Mouse is an interesting gimmick for people that work short hours, but if you are going for real work, especially if you work with tables and need to scroll horizontally. Simple is not better, unless your work process is simple (or the mouse is used for personal use, light web browsing).

I don't like how the MX3's buttons are a different colour to the rubber. Looks terrible. Should have matched it better. The Magic Mouse looks great but as others have said it's one of the worst ergonomics ever seen on a mouse.
