Thank you for such a well-informed review on the marked decks Magicorthodoxy. I enjoy your reviews on KZfaq as well as in the forums. I believe that it would also be nice to know the decks that would pass the riffle test, this feature could be useful. Another possible criteria could be which decks are less likely to look suspicious to the audience. A NOC deck for example would in my opinion create less suspicion than a deck with a lot of back designs, but the bicycle marked deck would be least suspicious especially in the US due to familiarity.

Thanks for showing regular cards, that is helpful, so we can get the idea of the marking system. Also for me Ultimate Marked Deck is a dream come true and Deland's is a must have.

Great video. Though I appreciate well marked decks, I found that using non-standard, "pretty" decks often had my spectators suspecting a "trick" deck. Now I always use Bicycle Rider backs when I perform, and I have my own marking system. I sometimes work with a memorized deck, so each card in a deck has a specific number from 1 to 52 associated with it. I just mark my backs with the corresponding number from my system. Since it's only 2 small marks, it's a very subtle system.

Love your videos man. Would love to see you do a 'top five non gimmicked deck tricks' , top five gimmicked, top five tricks with a double backer etc etc keep up the good work

I own several decks of both marked and reader decks. My very first deck of marked cards was De lands msrked strippers. I bought them when I was a teen from a Spencer Gifts store. Flash forward to my half-blind 60-year-old eyes and just about the only cards I can read these days are the ones I marked according to the system described by Ted Lesley in his book, "Paramiracles".

I loved the NKW and DMC decks I also wear glasses so same here Well hidden and easy to Read

Cool video. I like marked decks and I am cautious about which ones to get based on if the marking system is easy. Your video will be very helpful. I have the Madison dealers, nice deck to perform with, but I'm not a fan of the marking system. The one I really like using now are the Mint decks. Well hidden and it is based on a system we all learned growing up.

I looked so hard think I saw a couple things don't want to talk to much. But the Aquila deck the card was the Jack of spades cool deck and the Butterfly deck was stunning THANKS cool vid..

If you don't own them already, as someone with an interest in marked decks you should also check out: The Code Ultimate Marked Deck Phoenix Marked Deck Boris Wild Marked Deck And just to clarify on the NOCs. V1 were unmarked. V2 were Marked for Suit, not just Red/Black. And most V3 and V3S decks are also only marked for suit. Only a couple (ones with the double border, or the Pandrea white deck) are fully marked.

The GT Speedreader is also my favourite.

I always take the time to figure out the system on my own, I personally think it's fun and doesn't take long to be honest. I also Actually found and figured out that the black lions were marked as well. I had no idea but it seemed like they would be and I was correct lol. The description when buying the deck has no mention of it being marked and when I searched online whether it was or not, I couldn't find an answer. So incase anyone is unaware, they are! Lol. The only deck I didn't even try with and regret not doing so, is the butterflies. Marked decks don't usually come with a code or video so when I saw the link provided with the butterfly I just went ahead out of curiosity. I wish I hadn't but in any case if I did end up figuring it out, it definitely wouldve taken me a while lol

I enjoy your reviews. They are very well done and informative. I just received the DMC elites which I am amazed at what a brilliant and clever marking system it has. Are there any books or DVD's that you would recommend that have good routines using a marked deck?

I recently bought the Deland's Automatic playing deck. Those have a nice reading system and they are also stripped. I came up with a system for the Bicycle rider back cards. I just haven't used them in trick yet.

I don't know how the 1scadenza is the first. Of what I can see, the reading is soooo obvious compared to the mandolin deck that is almost also a bycicle deck. and the elites.. I can not figure in hell how you can see.. so it must be very good. Also, personnally, I really like The Code, just for the fact that (even if you in a way can't shuffle the deck), because you can know the card your spectator is choosing without looking at the chosen card

You can actually read all the reader back cards. I don’t own or know how they’re marked but 6:37 looks like Jack of Spades, 7:00 is Jack of Diamonds, the 7:57 looks like 3 of Hearts though that one is a stretch? (Top left corner made out of the lines?), and 8:31 is definitely 5 of Hearts. Don’t have any reader backs, but if anyone were to look closely, they’re kinda easy to read.

I'm a big fan of Andy Nymans "The Code", also in mnemonica, easy to read and contains mots of extras in the system

what butterfly isnt 1st?i love the cards because you can do evrything with them and no one finds out the marking system(but i dont like it to give the whole deck to the spectator because it is too risky i give it only sometimes to shuffle if th spectator really likes magic )and the noc decks are incredible no one think the cards are marked because of the simple design but the marks are very hard to read i fail almost evrytime

My brother got hold of two of my cards from the KINGS deck and the Mirage deck and took like 5 seconds to figure out how it was marked. lol

The Boris Wild Marked Deck is the BEST OF the BESTI have this deck for several years, I buy soon a new one. I have the number 8-Madison Dealer's and as you said, it is dificult to read and learn also, the "Unveil Photho" or picture it is not good or clear enougth .I try to zoom up tto 250% and stil see or read nothing.

Did Ellusionist stop making the Kings? The page is gone, and they also seem to not be restocking the Black Kings either for quite a while. A lot of their decks went out of stock lately, like the white rounders, black arcanes, etc. Have you heard any news on why this all might be happening? I cant find anything.

I believe the Noc card is a heart. I don't know how you tell the what the value of the card is though. Am I right about the heart?

After watching this review, I bought some butterflies v2 and some DMC elite v4 and the passport. It made me realize that I have all these decks that have essentially the same "system. I never considered that the typical system is not very practical! As a Cartamundi fan, can you explain the difference between 310gsm and 320gsm (superflux 320gsm board) ex is proj. the gt speedreaders were the most obvious to me. However, if i didn't look too closely just assuming they'd be rider backs, i probably wouldn't have noticed. I think people will just assume them to be regular rider backs and pay less attention.

Can someone explain how to read the dmc cards? I wanna get a deck but i cant see the design at all, am i blind? i want to see how clear they are before i buy them so i wont be disappointed as they are 30euros where i live!
