I came late to the party and picked up Miracle One for the price of two decks of cards. It seemed your review was cordially nice but not something you would perform with. How would you compare it to, Christian Grace’s Inevitable Choice? Thanks Dave and Happy Birthday for 2024. ED

Honestly from long practice and some studies on any handling of cards, one can acquire the most dexterity and can perform one trick 30 different ways. Then it's just a matter of finding the proper elegant one for you.

I own this trick and after seeing the workings, I don't think it's worth $75 for what you get. That being said, once you know the workings it is a very simple matter to make your own "Miracle one" Decks, especially the red deck. I have been performing "The Grail" for quite some time, it is very similar to this trick. The only thing this trick has over that one is that you can show the entire deck after the card is chosen/number is named. This however is significant so I will likely be performing "Miracle One" instead of "The Grail".

To be honest I just wonder how many ACAAN's does one person need? It seems there are limitless versions out there and I'm a bit jaded. Other than Magician's I doubt if anyone knows or cares about the Berglas effect. And if they did, when presented properly, I believe the svengali method is impressive as it needs to be . ..... It's all about the EFFECT on the Observer(s), no matter how you get them there. Magicians appreciate skills and Ingenuity that are NEVER seen by the Audience. But, in the end, it is always about the EFFECT ... the lasting impression left on the Spectators.

ACAAN is a plot, a motivation, it's not really 'A' trick. One could do an entire routine on freely named cards and freely chosen locations for reveal and it would stay fresh (some very respected magicians in fact do). This is another take on it, and to me, it looks good for a parlor show situation (expensive as it may be).

I think the Berglas Effect is just a myth that never really happened much like the indian rope trick. Its one of the last great mysteries that keeps the magic alive for magicians. So many people have tried to replicate it but its never as clean and direct as the legend goes probably because its not real.

David Berglas was a performer who performed nightly on cruiseships and in theatres and the berglas effect was a staple of his show.. A careful read of Richard Kaufmans book will teach you everything you need to know about performing the berglas effect...

@@McKMagic I don't doubt he did a any card at any number in his performances but its the story of detailing the conditions that i doubt. The deck is introduced before the cards and number are named, the deck isn't switched, the performer never touches the deck, no off stage helpers are used, etc

@magicmagicman I'll tell you this, David performed The Berglas Effect, exactly as described... when he wanted to. And when he felt the time was right. But this took him over 5 decades to perfect.. so it isn't an easy method.. It is like the trick that cannot be explained... I hope I have gave you enough information

There is no one best acaan. David Berglas' is the cleanest but it is definitely the most difficult... Asi winds is very good if you have mastered stacked decks. If your looking for an impromptu acaan then go for Shawn Farquhars H.G Effect
