His guitar (Epiphone Riviera) was actually lost by the airline, so he borrowed Earl Hooker's Univox LP copy.

There is an image of him playing it on what looks to be a different show as well, maybe he liked it so much he used to "forget" his guitar often

There's a big difference between the two musicians (nothing I said or will say is meant to be a slight toward Gary Clark Jr.'s music). Because I love Magic Sam's music and there isn't enough of it, I was thrilled to hear there was someone of his stature playing today. I just don't hear the similarities or even an equivalence on any level. Magic Sam's attack and phrasing on guitar were like no other (not that they came from nowhere) and were matched to his voice and what he did with it. Everyone should love what they love. My comments--whatever they were--weren't meant to depreciate Andy Thomas's relationship to either musician. But there never will be a "new Magic Sam"--there was only one.
