Nah you're being waaaaay too harsh in this review. This is the best G1 legend scale Prime by a mile. And I'm sick and tired of this argument about Magic Square materials. It's precisely because of their choice of materials that such incredible likenesses to the cartoon can be achieved. They actually 'LOOK' like their cartoon counterparts, which is clearly what they're going for (thankfully because that's what I want from these figures). For all the 'premium' qualities of NewAge figures, I've owned plenty that are loose out of the box, or won't hold their transformed position, or have too many gaps or spaces, or are simply prevented from being G1 accurate..... because of the materials used and size of the figure. I used to be a NA man, but now my legends collection are almost all MS and I couldn't be happier :)

You had the trailer hitch facing the wrong way the two circular ports need to be facing each other then just make sure the two tabs are aligned with the two slots on the truck bed to fit and the trailer should work just fine

Picked this up a couple weeks back - one of my favourite figures and the articulation is so good

I actually dig the head sculpt a lot! Then again I am all about the G1 Toon Aesthetic.

You are doing the trailer hitch wrong, the blue part comes off and tabs into the legs separately, then you have to like half untransform the figure to get it in a state where you can slot the trailer in reversed, and then flip it around to the back where it normally goes. It is it's own kid of problem but it does lock in TIGHT once you do.

Another thing about the dough-y material is that if you think about how thin certain panels and hinges are on certain Magic Square products, they HAVE TO be nylon plastic or they would shatter on one transformation. Their squishy, flat plastic allows for certain engineering feats - toon accuracy, poseability & complexity, especially at such a small scale, but it also makes the figure look and feel way too soft and hard to apply paint on. Love it or hate it. But the nemesis prime does look a whole lot sharper if you ask me. Black nylon plastic doesn't have much of the aesthetic problems as blue or red. I have that version and I do enjoy it for what it is.

I also hate to be a broken record but I'm the exact opposite when it comes to the materials and to what they mean in terms of the transformation and the fun I have while going through it. I'm not one to flip my TF action figures back and forth loads of times, I transform them once when I get them and depending on the mode they came transformed in, twice when I display them. Normally I try to follow a tutorial video when I'm going through the transformation process to avoid breaking my figures. With the MS figures I end up transforming them with just a couple of hints from the instruction books provided by the company. The pliable materials allow me to apply a bit more pressure to some parts and pieces without the fear of breaking them so in the end the feeling of accomplishment is a bit bigger then when I follow a video tutorial or the complete instruction book and I always end up with a solid very well transformed figure in hand. In my opinion this is the best Legends scale Prime to date and a good upgrade, if not from the NA (that is also a great TF action figure) from the preview MS prime. I have metallic painted first edition MS prime and like that. I Wish MS would just up their game and release fully painted versions first if they are gonna keep trying to go toe to toe with Newage.

I find these transformations whereby the figure completely 'explodes' out and then a hundred thousand tiny adjustments follow rather dissatisfying, despite how clever and intricate they undeniably are.

The transformation is pretty clever. Would easily beat newage if the paint and materials were anywhere near what newage is putting out. Pretty sure this transformation wouldn't be possible with proper materials though.

I got SS86 Hot Rod fairly recently, so I now have some experience with smaller complex (for Hasbro) figures, but nothing compared to this guy. That said, my love for this this thing hasn't wained much, with the colors being what's held me back for now (hoping for a more vibrant version). With a transformation that borrows steps from MP-10/MS-01, MP-44, and one from TE-01, I just can't not enjoy the effort put into getting such an amazing looking bot. The maluable materials definitely seem to have saved this thing from your hands, with harder, less maluable materials most likely have snapping from some maneuvers. I really do hope, pretty much in oposion to your view, that MS holds onto these materials, at least when concerning their more complex figures. Their simpler figures, with more robust parts, should get their harder, more rigid materials. Also, the trailer hitch should be removed from the trailer and tabbed into the truck bed first, then reattached to the trailer.

Materials... I think MS plays it safe with a plastic that has more 'give' than most. I'm not sure about NewAge's breakages but I know that at their even smaller scale, I often worry about small pinned hinges, tabs, almost anything that moves except for major articulation points. I don't flip my figures back and forth much, but I wouldn't want any figure to break due to materials giving way. NA's Prime was fantastic but MS is just a little better IMO.

I know I am in a minority globally and especially here BUT I much prefer the MS proportions. The new age optimus is too skinny and that faux chest looks ugly specially from above (which happen often since it is legend). The same for their upcoming grimlock. Looks too skinny and I will happily wait for the upcoming unannounced MS grimlock. Regarding this V2. I think the real upgrade is the range of motion and how he looks doing it. I saw some really impressive post on forums. Granted I am lorr of a museum pose kind of guy so I doesn't impact me a lot.

So I thought about getting this guy because he would fit well with the theme shelf I have going for Prime. BUTTT MS, of course, is releasing this guy again in an oversized version which is basically the same thing just a large close-to-MP scale. So I'm getting that one.

I've never seen these before..they're AWESOME !!! Better than the larger "official" offerings. I REALLY like this company's product ! That said it BOGGLES the mind that NO-ONE has thought " well I can only display them in one of it's modes and all the problems, things we complain about and things we hate are ALL caused by the need to transform. Wouldn't it be SO INCREDIBLE to have each character come in 2 items within the box..1 being the robot perfectly detailed and articulated as well as in scale with all the other characters. Lots of extra hands, faces etc. Then the 2nd piece would be a vehicle perfectly detailed and working doors, rubber tires and in scale with the other vehicle forms. They'd look WAY BETTER NO KIBBLE !!! We could have little articulated people with each character and they could fit inside the vehicle and be articulated..look good. The manufacturing world be far less expensive, no need for time and money going towards engineering..less expensive for the consumer, More profitable for the makers, Able to display in both forms at the same time. Much more durable..NO FLIPPIN KIBBLE !!! That said

The eyes are beedy, somewhat disturbing That head sculpt would have worked wonderful for a zombified, battle-damaged, resurrected Prime controlled by the quintessons.

They'll come out with a painted version and then I'll consider it. I always prefer transparent windows to painted areas that represent windows which finally changed with their version of Hound (which they released a better, painted version of after I bought the first... sigh) so I'll hold on to NA David for now.

I agree with stick with the one you have. The head sculpt is too long and I don't like the single headlights in truck mode. But I am being super picky.

Further shows how much of a cock-up TT did with the MP-44. When a 3rd party company can simply mirror most of the transformation to get a backpack-less legend scale figure, yet some are still saying audio pack is a must :/

Broooo, the way you transform it is kinda cringy. Good thing MS toys went with nylon which has more of a give or you probably broke some parts. You kept blaming the material but that's what saved you from destroying the figure.
