can you eat it when its "full" and how does it taste? can you remove the water by evaporating it to reuse it?

While I'm definitely not going to try this one myself, I'd guess that it would essentially behave like dietary fiber supplements (think psyllium husk) - it's quite inert, so if it's pure, it should be tasteless, odorless and non toxic. As long as it's fully hydrated, it also shouldn't block anything up too much. If I remember correctly (it's been a while), something not entirely unlike this stuff is actually used to treat certain digestive problems, but I can't be bothered to look this up right now.
@jandl1jph766
@jandl1jph766 2 жыл бұрын
Also, the water is adsorbed into the material, not chemically bound to it, so yes, it's basically infinitely reusable - though in practice, there's no good reason to, since it's cheap, plentiful and usually used to clean up spills of all sorts of (mostly water) liquids - especially ones that you don't want spreading around...

Several Questions Could a bunch of this be used for terraforming islands via- expand land? Can this be used to block floods and and potentially tsunamis? Could you some how take the water back out and if so, is the water purified. And finally can this material be used as an insulater? Or perhaps can it be condesened into a building material?

It can be reused, but is probably a horrible building material. It might fight tsunamis if you had enough of it, but that is likely very costly. Plus, salt makes the water come back out of it, so it may not fight tsunamis very good at all. Also, you'd need a way to store the stuff. Also my grandfather invented it.
@Hellimatrix
@Hellimatrix Жыл бұрын
Well not the entire tsunami at once no, they do have home flood barriers that use this stuff though but it would only really work against fresh water, salt water would lessen it's effectiveness if not entirely disable it depending on the salt concentration.water contained within It can be evaporated out slowly, dehydrated, or even microwave it to rapidly remove the water. It does have excellent thermal resistance to heat as well but as far as using it for a building material it wouldn't be stable enough on its own as the water in it would slowly evaporate out and just leave you with the powder again.
