Imo 90s magic was the best magic. A lot of younger players now dont understand strategy and tactics built around 20 mechanics instead of 500 different ones. We had to really understand our card collection to figure out what worked together. Now I feel like a lot of people are relying on broken mechanics and planeswalkers and copied pre-built formula decks being the mainstream meta instead of mostly homebrews. Fnm in the 90s was like all homebrew decks people wanted to work on and then those couple people with a lot of money who had copied pro decks. The one thing I don't miss from 90s magic is manaburn lol. And I like some of the 2000's mechanics but i could live without them.

I understand that that is the way it is done. It seems, though, that since mana is energy used to cast spells, and the mana is only generated once the lands are tapped, that the mana would not exist and therefore the spell could not be cast until the land was tapped and the mana necessary was created. Of course, since the spell is just on the stack and hasn't yet resolved I guess it could be argued that the mana is created in time so long as it is added to the pool before it resolves.
