It's crazy how accurate he was on some of these. Practically described the discard deck's last two turns of the game perfectly without seeing a single other card other than MODOK

when I first played magic, I got beaten 10 game in a rows, but I had so much fun and keep coming back for more. I think it's because I'm an Yugioh player and Magic is the first card game that actually let me play through some turns and try to do something without getting combo to death in first turn. And the 11th game I somehow pulled off an insane combo with a card I stole from opponent GY and it feels so great.

FIRE VIDEO. First ever comment on youtube after 15 years just cause of how much I liked this. BBD was always one of my favorite MTG content creators, especially his SCG articles around 2016-2018. So much good sh** I can't even get into all the complement I want to give. That read on Thanos + Loki interaction was insane by BBD. Most impressive card review of this sort on YT by far. The most likely reason that the Time Stone is formatted differently is that it is a specific sequence that none of the other stones follow. They all do an effect and draw a card, but the time stone does not do an effect now, it does it later. What you DO do now is draw a card. So the sequence becomes, Draw a card. Next turn, you get +1 energy.

I was wondering when Snap would join the “expert in another game evaluates this game’s cards” trend. This did not disappoint. That said I thought I’d have a lot of quibbles with the “correct” evaluation after the first couple. Werewolf is very good but part of that comes with its relative newness to the game and the meta not having really adjusted to it. And while Vulture is decidely less good, I wouldn’t really call it a bad card as such. It still regularly appears in decks focused on moving cards as a strategy.

So i don't have Kang, but i've always wondered if he enabled another card draw if you drew him on the turn you play him. What i see is a Chavez without the power, but ability to foresight the opponents gameplan. And after you've seen it, you effectively draw a new card, which in turn can win you the game, potentially? Ill have to play with him myself to debunk my theory, but we will see!

I put Quicksilver in my decks where most of the other cards are high-cost, to prevent me from missing a T1 drop. "Why not just balance your deck better?" you may ask. And the answer is: because that deck is used only to quickly complete missions that require a bunch of 4, 5, or 6 drops to be played, without caring about winning 😂 It's Quicksilver, Domino, Magik, and the rest of the cards are "whatever cost I need for the current mission".

I think one thing to add for Modok is that Snap is more like Hearthstone in the fact that there's no interface to choose a card you wish to discard. MtG lets you choose cards by default, adding "at random" if it's random. Snap is the opposite, where it's random by default and more targetted if that's on the card effect. Modok, however, is never random because it's your entire hand.

I feel like this would have been better if he could have seen a basic game with base cards to understand how the turns work and priority. He clearly was trying to understand how the game fundamentally worked with turns as it isn't like magic as it is priority-based. Otherwise great video.

Good video, I’m still at about 50 mins into the video but wanted to comment that what I think makes Legion so busted is the fact that there are cards (Storm and Magik) that create a specific location that you can either multiply or shut off with Legion which is how I see him used most, to cheat out win conditions.

What would be interesting is if you had the balls to use the cards that the magic player thought were good and trying to see if players just had the wrong philosophy regarding the card, like them saying Quake has a powerful effect. Maybe she does and just no one has been using her right, I'm sure if you tried some janky Lockout combos with Storm, you could trick your opponent into dumping thinking they can take the location and them get it somewhere else. And after that if the card is still bad you should be able to understand why the card is bad and where it needs improvement. And again like you said with Quake, you don't want to snap on Quake because it's unreliable, then how difficult would it be for the player to play Quake to manually move the locations, would that be too strong. Maybe, but it certainly makes her a better card to run with if you can take advantage of that effect.
