I just wanted to share a bit about how I went about making my crane bag for my Ovate journey in Druidry. I'd love to hear if anyone else is making one!

I just started as an Acolyte for the local druid group and we have to create a crane bag. Since I have taken over the magical arts and crafts I decided to do this on Imbolc and I love your video. Thank you so much.

I collect messenger bags and they go with everywhere. Having finished school years ago they bags I have now carry my spell books and grimiore. They may be modern but they fit me, I'm planning on making one by hand in the future though and your video will make that become a much easier project.

I had never heard of a Crane Bag before this is wonderful. I love the idea of a sacred bag for transporting your magickal tools. 😀

It's been such a fantastic part of my practice! Going outside for ritual is that much easier because my tools are safely stored and transported. Plus all of its use has made it feel very magical all on its own!

I really enjoyed this video and I found the same lack of examples when searching for crane bag ideas. Maybe there is more since this video but I appreciated your bag alot and it's purpose it serves well. The symbols of the dragonfly and spiral also resonates alot on my own path so thank you so much for this!! Much love, peace, and harmony Danni 💚💜

Thank you! I do have to admit that it hasn't held up as well as I would have liked. I had to replace the strap and I often use a different bag these days because I'm not taking my drum with me as often.

This is the fifth thing I've come across talking about cane bags today. I think Manannan is trying to tell me that I need to make one.

Mine is a dark brown two-pocket 19th century style canvas messenger bag, the main pocket can hold legal size documents or a couple of large books, and the flap has a hidden pocket that could hold large envelopes. The bag is starting to wear out, so I'll probably have to find how it is made and make my own replacement. I have my grandmother's 1954 Singer sewing machine which is a bit of an ancestral altar in its own right.

That sounds great! I love that it's a bigger bag, too. The little bit I did find online of others sharing their crane bags usually had smaller pouches which didn't strike me as super useful. Good luck with the replacement whenever that occurs. You might want to get a local sewing machine repair place (they actually do still exist!) to check the machine before you start using it. That's what I did before using my sister's, and I'm so glad that I did.

+Danni Niles (EsotericMoment) actually the machine is in good mechanical order, but I did replace the unsafe wiring and I've been using it to make Druid robes, cloaks, and for garment repair for about 2 years so far :)

I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. I'm glad that you have the energy and time to get back to the Ovate course, though. I hope it brings even more healing and magic to you!

The closest I have is a messenger bag that I keep books, ritual items, cards and of course my tablet in.. I also use it for very mundane things as well.

I think it's a great idea to combine the magical and mundane. It sounds like a useful Crane Bag to me!

I am loving your videos, Danni--thanks for these! BTW, your drum is called a "BUH-rawn" or "BAH-rawn" (depending on dialect). A "dh" in Irish is pronounced like a soft "W" sound. (The Irish language alphabet does not contain a W, V, X, Z, J, or K, but there are phonemes to make those sounds.)

A bit off topic here...but I was wondering how you're getting along with your bodhran? I was also thinking of learning to play one or perhaps an Irish lyre. :o)
@DanniEsotericMoment
@DanniEsotericMoment 6 жыл бұрын
ooo fancy an Irish lyre! :D My bodhran and I are getting along very well for ritual and meditation uses. However, learning how to play the rhythms used in Jigs and other faster music styles is still very far off. I think I need to dedicate more regular practice for that side of learning the bodhran. . . or maybe an in person teacher rather than just videos and by ear. I really, really love using music in my practice though and highly recommend the exploration to others! Good luck.

Thank you! Yes, I love music as well and play by ear, but since I'm not well coordinated, I thought a drum or simple harp/lyre would be my best bet! Lol! Blessings!
