Well, also that most songs have lyrics with them in YT Music, and you can switch between the music video and audio-only. ;) I hated YT Music at first because I was so in love with the original Google Music app, but once I realized they had all the videos and lyrics in the app to every song... I am hooked now, lol.

The original is by Dave Brubeck and his wonderful Quartet. This version is a tad bit faster than the original, still amazing though. It got its name by taking five "takes" (takes being the number of attempts at recording a song) in the recording session, hence Take 5. It's also I believe one of it's first to be recorded in 5/4ths time.

@@DrKub007 It's a matter of taste I think. I really like this version, too - but I'm able to understand why not everyone does like it as much as I do. Technically, this isn't 'bad" - it just does not fit your preferences in musical realisation.

@@tobiasmay2693 interpretation is something one can learn, they obviously had not this teaching, for straight binary rythm the drumer would do the job, but he s totaly unable to shuffle or groove anything, and i really feel no connection between the musicians here, it s like they play in separate rooms and can t hear each other
@tobiasmay2693
@tobiasmay2693 5 жыл бұрын
@@DrKub007 In my opinion "straight binary rythm" matches the tempo and feel of this version quite good. It's impulsive, which I like. You sure are right about the fact, that he doesn't groove too much and that the musicians are playing more "against" each other in this version. Interpretation does mean that everyone adds his own musical layout - if it's straight binary drumming, that's a kind of Interpretation. It doesn't mean, this version is bad - it does mean that it just isn't the right one for you, which is totally okay. There are many versions of this song, this is clear. You don't have to argue why it's bad - it's a subjective view. Music has no "right" or "wrong", no "good" or "bad". There isn't ONE best version, there are many - individual ones. In the end it's simply "you like it or not". You obviously do not enjoy this version, which is okay - why then take other people the fun to hear this version by saying it is bad though?

Very good selection. I only listen to jazz from time to time, but when I listen it's because of the songs like these ones here. Thank you. Onward to part III in a (hopefully) near future :)
