I build this LP style guitar for my friend. She wanted the guitar to be black but still have the wood grain visible. I wished to try staining some ash wood for a long time, so this was my chance. I brushed the grain away so I get a little bit of relief effect and painted it with black light structure paint. I love how this guitars top finish turned out. The challenge I had for this build was to combine a Les Paul style design with Tremolo Bridge. I had to flatten the area between neck and bridge at an angle and then carve a belly curve around that. For the guitar body I used two pieces of mahogany with a thin board of maple and some black wieners in the middle for decoration. Top plate is ash. Neck is also mahogany with maple and veneers, to match the body style. And I also made matching control knobs, but unfortunately I didn’t film the process. I will do it next time.
This guitar build took over 2 months to finish. I put in around 400 hours of time. The cost of materials (wood, hardware, electronics and other components) was around 750€. It is not the cheapest guitar build, but at the end she get a very good quality guitar.
