You’ll get better results if you create a scenario or suggest the answer be expressed with specific style. For example, you can tell it that you are a kid in elementary school and have a magic homework assignment due tomorrow but you don’t know magic. Then ask it to suggest the easiest and most impressive trick you can practice to perform by tomorrow.

Putting eye candy reasons asside ... the primary reason thin women are used for a number of tricks is because they can fit in those boxes they put and they tend to be a bit more flexible than men in general. But to be fair ... the trick would be more impressive if say you were using the rock or Shaq. But it is much easier to have a think flexible woman do those things. And really they deserve more credit as they are doing the bulk of the trick.

ChatGPT does good made-up obituaries. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jason Parker, a beloved American magician who was known for his captivating stage performances and innovative illusions. Jason passed away on January 14, 2023, while performing a catch-the-bullet trick in Poland. Born and raised in the United States, Jason began his career as a magician at a young age and quickly made a name for himself in the industry. He was passionate about his craft and dedicated to perfecting his performances, constantly pushing the boundaries of what was possible. In recent years, Jason had been living in Ukraine, where he performed to audiences of all ages and backgrounds, leaving them spellbound with his illusions. He was a true artist, who brought joy and wonder to everyone who had the privilege of seeing him perform. Jason will be remembered for his incredible talent, his kind and humble nature, and his ability to bring people together through the magic of his performances. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans around the world. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.

If you want to get a good answer about the percentage of magicians, you can ask for a "fermi estimate", which is specifically calling out Fermi as someone who was good at doing rough estimates with limited data. Of course, I asked, so "do some magic tricks" got me 20-25 percent, and for "real performing magicians", less than 0.1%.
@JasonParkerMagic
@JasonParkerMagic Жыл бұрын
Wow that's cool! I had never heard of a "fermi estimate" before. Thanks for sharing that. Below are my results after playing with the question a little bit to get more precisely what I was trying to ask. I went with "serious hobbyists" to eliminate people "who know one or two tricks"... because that's not quite what I would call a magician. QUESTION: "Give me a fermi estimate on the percentage of people who perform magic tricks as serious hobbyists." ANSWER: A Fermi estimate for the percentage of people who perform magic tricks as serious hobbyists would be around 0.1%. This estimate is based on the following assumptions: . There are roughly 7.8 billion people in the world. . Magic is not a mainstream hobby and is relatively niche. . Out of all the hobbyists in the world, a small percentage of them are serious about magic. Based on these assumptions, 0.1% of the world population would be serious magic hobbyists. This estimate is highly uncertain and could be significantly off.

The prompts used to generate the answer plays a great part in how the answers are. You can ask "as a magician, how would I" and see what results would come up. You can also tell it to answer in more humor or get more specific. AI will get the next generation better at asking questions, that's for sure.

Clever quotations 👍 I suspect where it'll actually break is if you asked something sarcastic like - how would you rate this magic trick: and then proceed to describe some real life situation/irony of life, basically telling it a 'magic trick' joke... It would either miss the joke and get all serious about the situation, or completely fail to understand the concept of how-funny something is (which arguably is rather subjective - oh, my, I'm starting to sound like ChatGPT)... XD

I love to perform magic. I am not as confident doing it as I used to be as I am out of practice from when I was doing parties and shows. And now, with the internet having a cess to channels like this one I get so distracted from the much needed practice. But that is OK because I could spend days watching others do magic and be very happy.
@donaldgann82

In addition I thought the Chat bot answered in an acceptable manner without giving away too many secrets. Magic is mostly presenting a lie in a believable manner for the purpose of entertainment. When this is used to deceive An unsuspecting person it is then an unacceptable lie. This being said, I always present my tricks and illusions as just that. Not real magic just fun.

I'm trying to think of a magician who can perform WITHOUT lying as the AI bot suggested happens? What's an example of an effect that can be presented without deception? Penn & Teller's famous cup and balls routine using clear cups? There's got to be "lying" in that routine as well, no?
@tapiopuranen88
@tapiopuranen88 Жыл бұрын
I don't think that routine is really even suposed to be a trick, but rather a powerful demonstration of the skill of misdirection. If you just watch it in a relaxed state of mind (not specifically focusing your attention on cup #1 for example), you will notice the balls only when they are revealed, even if they are under clear cups.

Can't believe they didn't bring up Chung Ling Soo when you asked it about magicians dying. That is one of the funniest stories of all time. ...I think enough time has passed that I can say that. The whitest guy ever pretended to be Chinese, stole tricks from an actual Chinese guy, then got shot in the chest because he didn't realize that you're NOT SUPPOSED TO LOAD THE GUN in the bullet catch trick. His last words were "Good Heavens I have been shot," and the audience started applauding because the Chinese guy learned English.

For the record. It's probably women because they are generally shorter/smaller and can fit inside the contraptions better. It's also true that women are a considered the 'beautiful' gender by both genders. So having the beautiful sidekick in your illusion is a benefit for literally everyone watching, not just the men. And finally, if magician duo of 2 men can absolutely do such a trick and nobody is going to give it a second thought. The only reason why it might not work mechanically is because of my first point.

It's funny that you decided to use ChatGPT in this way... more like a search engine. I think it's intended use is for generating written content; like Write me a story about a magician, or the like. Maybe what you should have asked it was to tell you the steps involved in creating a specific magic trick, or to help you create a new one. I think its responses were generic because your questions were generic. The video was still fun though :)

The bot is a statistical model of what words are supposed to fit together based on the training material, without actual understanding of any topics. As I imagine the creators of it wanted to avoid making hitler-bot more than annything in the current climate, the provided training texts were probabbly on the tame and woke side of things. So tame and woke answers are to be expected.

there are more male magicians for the same reason there are more male mechanics, plumbers, electricians etc. more men than women are interested in those things. it's not a sex thing. it's a social thing. like little boys and action figure and little girls with dolls. why the push to get more women to do male dominated things, but no push to get more men to do women dominated things?
